Hi,

I recently discovered Construct 2 and I'm simply blown away. From a programmers perspective, you've done a terrific job. My only concern is w/ performance and resource/battery drain on mobile devices. I have not yet found much information about that. Please advise.

I look forward to developing w/ this engine.

Sincerely,

Atir Javid

It would be awesome if for experienced developer you could allow us to switch to code editor mode, and see all the generated code so far and be able to edit it without it breaking it. What do you think?

Hi Atir, thanks for your interest!

We've written a couple of blog posts on the subject of performance with Construct 2:

HTML5 2D gaming performance analysis (note: some results are out of date, performance is even better now)
IE10: "fast" and "native" has gone to other browsers
Optimisation: don't waste your time

We've also just released support for CocoonJS and appMobi's directCanvas to significantly boost performance on mobile (up to 10x faster).

Code editing is a regular suggestion, but we are really here to make a tool for non-programmers... maybe we'll branch out to code in the future, but it's not in our plans for the time being.

Thank you so much for the prompt response. I am having trouble deciding between the many HTML5 game engines.

Well, the best programming oriented engine you can find is probably ImpactJS. Yet i'm a programmer and much prefer Construct2 over any programming oriented engines. There's very little you absolutelly can't do with C2 that you can with true code. One important thing though, is if you're making a complex game that needs some custom features that C2 can't do at the point, event with the SDK, you're stuck till it gets implemented. Fortunately that never happened to me till now.
