Free Learn to Program Course

Discussion of tools and resources for game developers

Post » Mon Sep 24, 2012 5:45 pm

There is a free seven week long (starting on September 24, 2012) Learn to Program: The Fundamentals course being offered from University of Toronto, Department of Computer Science through Coursera.

From their FAQ "Students who successfully complete the class will receive a certificate signed by the instructor."

Although I have just started the LTP course today, I have found it quite helpful and hope you will too.

Along these same lines, there are some other interesting courses being offered online as discussed under Free Gamification Course in this forum.

I just completed week 4 of 6 of the Gamification course you tipped us off to. It's been really outstanding, and will definitely not be the last Coursera class I take.

The only problem I've run into is that part of your grade is a result peer assessments, and if you wind up with a non-native English speaker, or an individual with poor reading comprehension or critical reasoning skills, you can lose points without cause. Overall, though, quite valuable. Thanks!

Really loving this edX free course, CS50x: Introduction to Computer Science - HarvardX, which from the introductory lecture video and class materials looks like a really interesting course starting October 15, 2012 and ending on April 15, 2013.
