Discussion of tools and resources for game developers

Post » Wed Oct 28, 2009 6:50 pm

Everyone who seriously engaged in the development of games and focus on their realisation through the publishers, probably had the question - where can I find audio content for my games?

In this topic I suggest to share links to resources on which you can download the necessary sounds and music for commercial projects.

Sites with free sounds:
[url:ow73em43]http://www.freesound.org[/url:ow73em43]
[url:ow73em43]http://www.freesfx.co.uk/[/url:ow73em43]

Site with free music:
[url:ow73em43]http://www.opsound.com[/url:ow73em43]

If you know similar resources with free sounds or music that can be used for commercial purposes share in this topic. I think your links will be useful for many developers!

Opsound looks interesting.

I've checked out freesound before... its a little ....off putting. They make everything have a cc 2 license which means any sound used must be given credit, even if its one the hundred or so lousy fart noises.
There is some good stuff, but wading through all the nonsense gets old.

Music:

[url:33lxu5od]http://www.jamendo.com[/url:33lxu5od]
Creative Commons

[url:33lxu5od]http://musicfillingstation.de[/url:33lxu5od]
free for non-commercial, a comment line ("Music taken from MusicFillingStation.de") or link is needed. Commercial users have to ask for usage & conditions.

Sounds:

[url:33lxu5od]http://www.looperman.com[/url:33lxu5od]
more single instrument loops than full music loops or sound effects
free for non-commercial, credits demanded for commercial

[url:33lxu5od]http://www.soundsnap.com[/url:33lxu5od]
basically a pay service, but the free account allows 5 free downloads a month
free to use for commercial and non-commercial

[url:33lxu5od]http://www.flashkit.com/soundfx/[/url:33lxu5od]
license differs from sound to sound (freeware/linkware/shareware)

Oops, I'm sorry, but I wrongly wrote the site url - it's [url:howhkbnh]http://www.freesound.org[/url:howhkbnh] instead .com
And there are all sounds are licensed under the Creative Commons Sampling Plus 1.0 License

Look at this page [url:howhkbnh]http://www.freesound.org/whatIsFreesound.php[/url:howhkbnh] and you could sure that all audio content there released under the CC Sampling Plus License.
But their site (not sounds) is under the CC 2 license that you've mentioned above :)

tulamide Thanks for sharing! It's very useful links!

By the way I've found a new site with absolutely free sounds [url:howhkbnh]http://www.freesfx.co.uk/[/url:howhkbnh]
All content there are under CC license and may be used for any projects.
Their license agreement [url:howhkbnh]http://www.freesfx.co.uk/info/eula/[/url:howhkbnh]

Always amusing seeing people whine about licensing.

Not really complaining, I just don't understand how someone could be so hard up for credit that they have to make a hundred variations of flatulence. :P

Spend much time searching every sound on such sites is not very convenient... Would like to find a site with sound packs (of course under CC license) that you can easy download and have your own bank of sounds on the hard disk.
