  • How do you make your graphics..? do you use a tablet... i'm useless with a mouse, I know there's the free GraphicsGale for Pixle Art, but what are others doing, i like the style of the ones i got with construct and also the ones in the Video.

Or do some of you buy packs..?

  • Found this an online art program

    sumopaint.com/app

  • Check this thread for free sprites:

Personally I make my own using GraphicsGale or Photoshop (can use Gimp as a free alternative).

  • Piq is a pixel art drawing program that runs in your browser.

But I make game graphics with Blender.

I just made some graphics for TonyCrew's Bomber game in Blender:

  • I use BLENDER and GIMP, I would like to use PHOTOSHOP and 3D STUDIO MAX, but I sadly can't afford them =( ...

    Best regards

  • I would like to use PHOTOSHOP and 3D STUDIO MAX, but I sadly can't afford them =( ...

Why think the most people so ?

Also I have no Max and PS, but not because I can not afford it. For me ,It is just a hype.

Btw, I create and sell 2D and 3D content for animations and have many program tested already

Therefore, if a programm is more expensive I get not more creativit?t and talent automaticly.

    to the original question

I personally do everything yourself. I like to draw, sculpt and moddeling , but I can not programing with syntax. Therefore I love such tools how construct . It is the missing link for me, to be interactive creative.

I use a tablet for pixel-drawing and 3D sculpting, and the mouse for vector-drawing und 3D moddeling.

  • GIMP and Paint.Net

Both do almost similar things but the layouts are slightly different. I prefer GIMP though.

I still don't get how people can use a mouse to draw awesome drawings. I'm perfectly fine with a mouse to click or drag but never to draw. *sigh.

  • I use Graphicsgale for the most part. What I like about it is how very simple it is to edit the images you initially create. You just right click the outside white area and then you can very easily "Erase" anything that seems off about your sprite. From there, it's just tweaking. Very easy for beginners.

The downside? Making sprites have a transparent background is outrageously complicated. You're better off just doing that in another program altogether. Another thing I've found is that since it's specifically pixel based, unless you make a very large image with tons of detail, it's pretty hard not to notice that the sprites you draw are pixelated. The result for me is that my sprites have a cartoon-like look to them, though that may not be the case for everyone.

I'd like to know how people make high-res sprites. I'm guessing it's tablets and/or photoshop, but that's just not an option for me.

I don't think drawing on the mouse is too bad so long as the program being used has an easy way to erase/edit it. In a program like photoshop, it's pretty bad in my experience. Unless you have an impressively steady hand, you'll need a tablet for that one.

I think nobody draws realy good only with the mouse . A mouse is not pressure sensitive.

But for vector drawings you can use the mouse, because the technik is different. You "draw" with splines and shapes for creating.

No, it is not tablet or photoshop thing, but wich resolution you choose.

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

Try Now Construct 3 users don't see these ads
  • I actually used Construct's image editor to draw pixel art, and before that the Multimedia Fusion image editor.. I got to used to them because they're so easy to use, and I can draw anything quickly just to see what it looks like in-game then refine it later.

I should try Graphics Gale, I remember trying it years ago and not liking it, but who knows?
