Discussion and feedback on Construct 2

Guys, What programs or softwares do you use to make arts and graphics for your games? And what do you use for animations?

Iam using Adobe illustrator and make vector arts then convert it to png so I can use it for construct 2. cause construct 2 does not support vector type image. is it good to do that or there are other better ways to make graphics for video games. I am not good in game art because Iam a game designer and A bit programmer.

yes it is ok. I use png,too

btw.

I use a lot of programms for grafics and I love all of them.

My favorite tools :
-for drawings, Manga Studio EX
-for vector grafics, xara designer 7 pro and flash cs5
-for 2D animations
Crazy Talk Animator, Anime Studio8 pro and Flash CS5.

Also, I use lot 3D Programs to create my grafics and animations. vidi2012-04-06 11:16:45

how did you transfer your animation file from flsdh cs5 to construct 2?
do you use sprites for animation?

Hi, I'm currently using Photoshop for creating sprites and animations. It gives me better tools for creating detailed art, and easy workflow to create traditional animations. (I draw/paint and then export every frame of a animated sprite as png and put them together in C2).

I also use Blender3D (free software) for 3D based sprites animation (solids most of the time). Just render every frame as png.

Just like you said, Adobe Illustrator is a good software for vector based artwork, it would be better if C2 accepted SVG files though, same goes for Flash drawing tools.

I'd suggest - if you're intending to do some complex characters, scenarios/levels and animations - the purchase of a tablet (digital drawing pen/device, I don't know how you call it in english, lol) such as the Wacon Intuos, Bamboo or even Cintiq series and Photoshop. Most of the professional artworks out there(even for games) are created with these simple and easy to learn tools.

As an example, here's is the first frame of a running cycle animation of a character I'm working on. Also a scene/level concept I created a while ago, both with photoshop and a tablet.

Blender for me for character development. Photoshop with a plugin to output final spritesheets. Just started working with spritesheets and loving the possibilities.

I personally use GIMP and Inkscape. Both of these application are open source and are pretty powerful. If you are on a budget, try them out.

Inkscape is vector graphics based but you can export an image to a png file. GIMP is bitmap based and has all the usual tools for creating good quality images.
