A collection of well organized sprites to build your own Crazy monkey slot game
• Hey everyone,

I'm here to announce a game I've worked on for awhile now, something for the iOS (and hopefully Android). You may know me from my previous work on the Scirra Arcade - "My Irrational Fear of Unicorns".

I have a kinky obsession with weird titles I'm afraid, so this game is titled..

To introduce the game, here's a brief description,

o Go Monkey Squad is a 2D Endless Run & Shoot game made for the iOS and touch screen devices. You play as four monkeys which you can switch between, each with unique powers and fighting styles. Rico the Ricochet bullet monkey, Kuno the Katana wielding female fighter, Malfozzo the level 9001 wizard and Cybo the monkey who can shoot lasers from his cyborg arms. Stringing together large combos is the goal of the game. Keep on playing to earn Bananas to unlock new hats which each give your monkey different bonuses and abilities.

Some things to note, the game is highly inspired by the success of the game "Punch Quest" by Rocket Cat games, and it is still under heavy development. So the shops are only working for Rico, and the game is obviously still too buggy for the iOS release, but I hope to get some good feedback here.

Take note, I've enabled keyboard controls for jump, so you can try that out. Also there are only two kinds of stages done at the moment.

No. 1 - 5 on your keyboards are cheat functions for testing purposes!

1 - Rico gets Max HP

2 - Kuno gets Max HP / Unlocks

3 - Malfozzo gets Max HP / Unlocks

4 - Cybo gets MaxHP / Unlocks

5 - Gains 300 XP and Levels up

A big thanks to Scirra and CocoonJS for the great softwares that are making this game possible.

• cheats ... >:3 , Now get all the babanas !

• Graphics are nice , you need some rocking-music and the gameplay is good , didn't see the combos in play until now tho and also ... Getting some collision glitches and the game is pretty much a little slow-paced , that's not what you want ... ( Maybe it's because of the jump control , How do we jump already ?)

• Looking good, Rory.

Tested it out on my Ipad 3 on Safari and although the screen appears at about a fifth of the size it ought to be for some reason, I could still give the main game a test. The game mechanics are working well - there's a few freezes here and there, and the sound didn't work the second time I tried the game, but I enjoyed the character switching and Punch Quest style dynamics. Once the initial bugs are ironed out, I'm sure you'll have a very popular game on your hands (which I'm happy to test further on Ipad 3, and perhaps my wife's Ipad mini if she'll let me get my grubby mits on it)

• Dave Hailwood Ah, it's not configured to work well on iPad 3s yet! It's designed for iPhone 5 resolution atm. Will make it work on all resolutions before a first release :) Thanks for the nice comments! The freezes probably won't occur once it's been wrapped up in CocoonJS, maybe I can contact you to test it on iPad 3 for me before releasing.

Whiteclaws I just realized, for some weird reason, the music isn't playing! Thanks for the comments! About the game being slow paced.. hmm, maybe with more enemies and faster speed progression, I could speed it up! Thanks!

Definitely enemy collisions need to be improved and sometimes things happen that don't make sense. I believe in this build, Cybo loses HP when his combo ends.

• Hi Rory, just let me know when you have something ready for a proper ol' test and I'll be more than happy to have a good play of it. From what I've heard, ipad 3 safari is quite fast when it comes to html5 games (I get a steady 60fps on the game I'm currently designing, but I'm keeping the effects etc down to a minimum) so it's probably worth getting a few folk with older devices to have a test as well.

There's so few Construct 2 iOS games (only about three or so in the apps store that I can think of offhand), so its good to see someone else making progress with one.

Best of luck with the game, and thanks for entertaining me so much with the Unicorn game (which is actually partly responsible for me buying a Construct 2 license in the first place. The humour won me over).

• Dave Hailwood Wow, thats great to hear. Good luck with your ventures with C2 and iOS! It works well on my iPhone 5 safari too, but with the added hardware acceleration from CocoonJS, it doesn't get the frequent jerking and lag :) I'll definitely have to test it on iPhone 4 and below though.

I'm glad that the unicorn game humoured you enough to win you over! Hahaha

• Nice game! Very fun, good control, but maybe a little easy.

With a nice music, that will be a great game!

• Updated the game with music, for some reason, I had them toggled to disabled :)

• No music in the current version , rory

And could you explain me how to do some combos ?

• Try now! It was taking a little while to upload from dropbox.

Whiteclaws Combos are basically just not ending your hitting enemy streak, sometimes enemies are behind obstacles, Kuno can tumble and keep enemies infront of her for a long time, she can reach the highest combos, but the problem comes only when enemies are far away you can use Cybo to attack behind that. Right now, some balancing is definitely needed though :) I easily got to 800+ combo with Cybo.

• Okay ...

• Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

• I didn't tell my little cousin that I made the game, I let him play it and he kept asking if he could play it on my iPhone after that!

:) made my day

• I'm guessing you wanted something more precise? I think he has his text set to a variable so whenever his weapon collides with the enemy it just adds a value of one to that variable.

The text then just outputs the variable on the screen and has it increment by one each time the weapon collides with something.

Okay ...

• Very nice job Rory, I'm diggin the graphics and the gameplay

My irrational fear of unicorns was one of my favorite games in the scirra arcade because it had surprises like the cave of truth and evil unicorns which threw me off and made it entertaining

I really like the idea of switching between the four monkey's as it makes the game alot more entertaining

The pixel art also looks fine tuned so great job on your work, the game definetly has potential.

I was just wondering if you could kinda explain how your shop works for the items?

Do you have separate sprite objects that pin to your character? Or is your shop setup so when you click on the item your main player just changes animation?
