  • Meh. From Tweet's "I pooped!" to collaborative pooping.

  • I despite all thise informational crap. Unfortunetly that's the way it goes now

  • Actually, I think this looks really cool. I watched the whole thing from beginning to end. It looks to me like it could be a really useful form of communication, as long as people actually take the time to look at the potential rather than just say "meh it's another lame fad like twitter."

I mean... come on. Their framework can update a website in real time. How is that not friggin cool? I was especially impressed by the realtime translation demo at the end.

Once this launches I'm sure there will be more streamlined and specialized apps that use this framework.

  • Awesome, you can poop in real time!

Seriously, Google can talk all it wants about serious collaborative projects and whatever, but people will use it for retarded purposes.

  • And people use email to send lame chain lists and spam. Does that make email bad?

A technology shouldn't be judged by how poorly you can abuse it.

  • *eyes the FW:FW:FW:FW:FW:FW: CHECK THIS OUT!! lMAO!! mails in his inbox*

Damn the relatives and 'friends' that only communicate by sending funny, yet unrelated stuff. Yes, I hate email, too - to the point where I don't share my email with anyone anymore. It is useless if people keep forwarding lame stuff.

  • I really like This can this is a great idea.

I like the co-op editing at the same time.

The spell check seem really intuitive.

The same goes for rosy robot.

    The playback tool look cool.

Interaction with other site, plug-ins and programs is truly a great Idea.

The real time interaction is Awesome!

1up to Google for reinventing the wheel.

  • I love lamp.

Edit: whoa. It's even open. I could see this replacing email.

I wonder if one can get local copies as with email.

  • I wouldn't call it truly open e-mail-killer solution if it's still a service provided by one company. If there was open protocol so that anywho could create their own wave service which worked with other wave services, I would approve it totally. Currently it's too dubious to have all your personal data in the control of a single enterprise.

...however I know that it would be harder to do that way, technically and in other aspects too.

As a web service, though, it looks promising, or more like incredible.

You didn't watch the whole video, did you?

In fact, not only is the protocol open to any competing company, they demonstrate different wave clients running on different servers and communicating with each other in that video.

One of them is even a text-only client.

  • Oh, really :O

Yeah, you got me, I didn't watch the whole video, I had some things to do and slow connection ;D ...But that's great to hear! I'm really looking forward to this now!

  • Fun fact!

Email is around 40 years old.

That is ancient in technology terms.

    Now we know.

And knowing is half the battle.

  • what happened to Gopher anyway?

    and Bulletin Boards?

    _<

  • The world wide web as we know it, ate Gopher.

Bulletin Boards (as in BBSes, not forums and message boards) are still around, but they're just old files ran by old folks with either classic door games (Food Fight, Legend of the Red Dragon, Kannons and Katapults, etc), or some delusion that their file server bbs (with requirement for registration of your personal address and phone etc) is worth the trouble for 80s/90s files that can be found with a google for old shovelware CD collections.
