Has anyone uploaded a C2 game to apple appstore

Discussion and feedback on Construct 2

Post » Tue Oct 02, 2012 8:17 pm
Man this thread is a bummer. I wish I had seen all the mobile problems C2 had *before* starting a mobile project. Once my iPad gets in I'll give a shot to that .ipa with OSx86 business. Wish me luck!
Heh, sorry about that, know how you feel. Construct 2 is great for the chrome store and kongregate at least but mobile is where it is at. Maybe Joannesalfa can enlighten us more...

C2 is still great for doing certain gamestyles on mobile.

things like an animated storybook or connect4 or picture matching games.

however i would not make ambitious platform games or shooting games for now until mobile browsers support webgl as standard.

How exactly does it's export work? Do construct 2 mobile apps rely on the systems built in browser and run a simulation of that to run the app? Because I've played 3D mmorpgs, minecraft, first person shooters with impressive graphics, etc on my ipod. But what I'm gathering here is that not even a simply angry birds clone would be plausible. And let's be realistic, how many people really want to make/play those kinds of games.Draspur2012-10-02 21:51:24

I have an app currently waiting for approval on the app store. Not really a game but an animated sound board. Used CocoonJS and compiled on Ludei cloud compiler.

Yes, the host framework (like cocoon or phonegap) opens a frameless browser window and your c2 game runs within the os browser.

hence your game speed & capability are limited by the os browser. in case of iOS your game must be Safari compatible so you have to take care of what plugins you use too

I won't lie... Although I do love Construct 2 overall and how easy it is to use, I do feel like they promote the product as if you can easily port your projects to all these devices without really explaining the limitations or even outlining the style of games you can make for mobile :/

and something like a little animated story book or matching card games? No sir... that's def not what I'd really consider games ( I mean, yes they CAN//ARE games but you know what I mean).

The main project they use as the example is a platform game.

:(

Still going to finish up Super Ubi Land and see what I can do to make a mobile version of it either with Construct 2 hopefully in the near future or with something else

I'm afraid I'd have to agree that Scirra have been a little over-eager in promoting mobile export, when it is not suitable for most games.

I'd just hate to see them lose customers based on a misunderstanding :(
