Have you made the switch to Construct 3?

Discussion and feedback on Construct 2

No, and probably won't.
I simply dislike the subscription model.

Also at the moment you literally pay to be a beta tester: incredibly-slow-import-preview-times-and-memory-problems_t193052
(of course you can choose this in order to support Construct 3 early development)

I will in the near future. While I don't want to port my current projects till it becomes more stable, I'll definitely support Scirra.

No offence, but a few people here could do a bit of research. C3 runs without internet connection, you'll only need to be online for the first time to let it download itself. PWA magic.

I´d like to but no Paypal so far. But anyway, right now it´s basically an "Early Access" thing and I´m not a fan of such a concept (There are simply some inherent problems with it) Since Paypal is a few months down the road, I have to wait and until then and that´s fine. Right now C3 is just C2.5 because it still uses the C2 runtime, once the C3 runtime drops C3 will hopefully start to shine. I hope the C3 runtime comes out before Paypal. I will most likely switch because C3 has some stuff that I really like and I don´t mind the subscription model, not to mention I get 50% off the first year. It´s a no-brainer to at least try it for a year.

EDIT: Since I saw a bunch of people mentioning it, I also have one bigger project in development that I cannot port because of 3rd-party-plugins and I defenitely wouldn´t port it into something this early in development anyway. But it would defenitely suffice for prototyping / fooling around with ideas, that is what I mostly do apart from said big project.

For those who don't like subscriptions, but demand console export:

800 bucks each per year? Is it April?

I'm guessing they sold a lot of console modules, and got a lot of grief from developers who couldn't get past quality control.

Damn, they really dropped the ball with this one... I remember that you could get the older Master Collection (All Platforms) for 500~800 $ (or 15$ from Humble Bundle). The prices for modules doubled compared to the V1.

Then again, it has a good showcase with big titles. And you have the ability to export to consoles (800$ is a relatively small fee if you target consoles), so the possibility is there.

Wow, put things in perspective....

On the other hand, the HTML5 Module is one time pay of 150$

Then again, C3's 100$/Year is cheaper then Cocoon.io anual fee + 500$ splash logo removal.

So take your pick. C3 is good for what it supposed to do and has a lot of potential, but in my case I simply don't like the subscription model.

If I'm correct Game Maker Studio 2 is also using a subscription model now. It's 800$ per year for exporting to only one specific console.

And to reply to the original question, no I didn't switch to C3 yet, but I'm planning to do so in the future. The main reason why I didn't do it yet is that as many others, my current project is dependent upon third party plugins which aren't supported at the moment. I'm also waiting for the desktop build as I have a hard time getting used to the browser based engine to be honest. I also hope performances (of the editor) will be better on the desktop version.

No, I've taken a decision to do not switch C3 in following reasons:
-Internet required to open Google Drive and other cloud files.
-No stand alone support.
-Scirra promised to update C2 as new version but it will not happen.

In this time C2, Defold and Phaser are still good for making HTML5 games, besides I'm learning Unity and GameMaker for professional runtime engine.
