No. C2 is the last version of Construct I'll ever use. I'm currently learning C# and once I learn it, I'm not coming back. There's a few games I started in C2 that I want to finish, but I'm ok with remaking them in C# if I can't finish them by the end of the year.

I feel betrayed by Ashley with the announcement of C3, and I'm not supporting him any longer. There's no reason for C3 to be in a browser other than it being an excuse to charge a subscription and call it a "service." Not allowing people to own a copy of the software they pay for and locking them out of full access of their games if they don't or can't pay yearly for the subscription is wrong in my opinion.

I'm sure in a few years years, he'll ask where did all those people who were against the subscription model go, just like he keeps asking where all those people who supported Flash went years ago, and I'll answer him right now so he doesn't have to wonder for long... We moved on to better things.

Same Here. I'm learning C# and move to Unity which is free and more professional made. I had my good times with C2 but is time to move to the next stage of game development

I'm with you guys. Feel betrayed and disappointed with C3. Already converted 1 out of 20 games from C2 to Unity. I wont mind the splash screen. Will slowly converting all my current C2 games to Unity. I don't want to use cordova, cocoon, or XDK or whatever third party exporter anymore.

Seriously Ashley, browser based and yearly subscriptions? Remember the famous vsync chrome bug that we had for about 5-7 months or maybe more for a fix from google ?

C2 was a great tool for hobbyist like me, but I think Ashley is pushing it too much for C3 by doing a yearly subscription.

The games I wrote in Blitz Basic 3D (a DirectX 7 engine from 2001) are still working on my Windows 10 PC. Most of the Construct 2 games I made in 2014 don't work properly anymore in any of the current versions of web browsers :)

With Construct 3, I thought I would give it another go, so started doing some tutorials for C2 to get me familiar again, but reading peoples experiences so far, I think I might stick with something else, even though I do like working in Construct.

Scirra needs to get the IAP/Ad's/leaderboard plugins working asap for developers targeting mobile. But people also still have concerns with the export facilities for C3, it's really not about comparing to native performance so much, as tests prove that HTML 5 performance is on par with native, however, it is the reliability of the wrappers that users seem to be concerned with, I mean what's the point of doing all the work if wrappers are going to hinder performance or even worse not work properly at all on target devices. We seen this constantly with third party wrappers on C2.

I think users just want some reassurance that this is not going to occur again with C3, especially when paying for a subscription year in year out and then still not seeing their exported projects work as intended on PC, iOS, Android etc...

@troxx In a time that event the biggest companies ditched the subscription plan (Unity, Unreal engine) and offered full free access for what it was available to only the pro users in the past, I think Scirra has made a big business plan mistake.
Instead of paying for C3 subscription I prefer to invest 2-3 months in learning C# and play in the big league of developers like Unity.
For small developers I suggest to remain with C2 for the next 6-12 months during which time learn C# and Unity.
C3 is for suckers.
I hate browser based software/IDE, by the way

Yeh the Blitz languages were always rock solid. Too bad Mark Sibly never knew (or cared) how to market them properly. That said, C2 at least is very solid too, just let down by the wrappers.

C3 is good for what it supposed to do and has a lot of potential

I stand by this statement, but I think is too early to judge. You are comparing C2 that had 5 years of development to C3 that is still in beta/early access. A lot of plugins are still missing (even the new IAP is not ready). Better give some thought to after C3 is officially out of beta.

I think C3 will surpass C2 only after the new runtime is implemented, until then is a close call ;)

The thing is, I am well fond of Construct, the UI is great, easy to navigate, easy to use & I just enjoy using it. But the whole wrappers issue/missing plugins is what's stopping me and it appears a lot of other users from switching as well.

I suppose we'll just have to see how it goes?
