How did it all begin?

  • Questions for the devs really.

How did you guys come about making this?

What made you decide on 2D and not 3D? Was it a conscious choice, preferring 2D over 3D, seeing a space in the market so to speak, or based on necessity?

What did you have in mind when you began, and where do you see things heading in the future?

Are you planning a kind of "flagship" game made with construct, to show off everything it can do?

What is the one feature you wish Construct had, or will have?

Are more behaviors planned, to help with other kinds of games which aren't already covered?

  • In the year 20XX the great war started. The oppressive terrorist organization KILLK was poised to rule the world. A rogue splinter group under the command of General Ashes defied KILLK. They gathered together the remaining rebellion forces to fight back, to reconstruct civilization.

    Thus, the Reconstructors were formed.

This small, battle-scarred group fought bravely against the might of KILLK. Even KILLK's elite front-line soldiers, the Daily Crew, could not suppress them. Time and again KILLK's massive army proved ineffective against the Reconstructor's superior technology. Until one day KILLK unleashed it's secret weapon... the cybernetic organism known as Liji.

Liji's onslaught was merciless. It fought not only on the front lines with the Daily Crew forces, but in the cold, electronic landscape of cyberspace... hacking into Reconstructor data banks in an attempt to find a weakness and foil their plans. But Liji ultimately proved itself ineffective, and KILLK dismantled the cyborg.

Now there is a general armistice between the two factions. KILLK understands that the rebels aren't going down quietly. It's all they can do to keep their forces in line while awaiting the inevitable day that the Reconstructors unleash their most powerful weapon...

    ... One Point O.

  • ...Ever have one of those moments where you just can't think of how to reply to someone, either applaud their genius or secretly have them committed?

Would make an interesting game story though, hehe.

  • Best use of the All Your Base meme ever.

    We should make that game!

Would make an interesting game story though, hehe.

It is no story. It's TRUE.

  • Ashley = Tigerworks.

Tigerworks = Did plugins/coding for Clickteam for a long period of time.

Clickteam = Major 2D Game Creation developer.

It is my understanding that Ashley wanted to create his own software to do the things he felt the Clickteam line of products could not, and it grew into Construct.

Well the way you wrote it sure made it sound like a game. You've got me thinking of the kind of game it could be. Someone call Will Wright!

Seriously though, there's not enough game management sim games out there, that would be so much fun to make, lol. Have the usual research department, but researching fancy new game technology and hardware, sell products around the world, compete with other developers and companies, or become a company like Electronic Arts or Microsoft and simply buy out the competition! Start the game back in the days of the earliest computer and gradually move through the first 8bit computers, and onward past 64bit, holographic and beyond! Actually, forget Will Wright, call Sid Meier instead.

That would be such a cool game

  • Hahaha ratehr than a make game sim...its becomes a make program that makes games sim

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

Try Now Construct 3 users don't see these ads

That would be fun just for the complexities alone in a virtual game of a virtual application in a virtual gameworld designed by virtual people *head explodes* I would soo play it though!

Start from humble beginnings, having to balance building a usable framework to create popular games while staying ahead of the market and developing new ways to do things. Making deals with hardware manufacturers to have your later engines supported more than the competition, selling the resulting engines for millions, doing conventions, conferences, dealing with the press, hiring and firing staff.

Oooh, random disasters too, like a disgruntled employee steals the source code, or the parents alliance protests against the amount of violence in your $50 million 4-9yr old educational title. Or early on in the game, before hiring staff, while still working from your bedroom, your mom unplugs your computer to vacuum the room before you could save all your code to tape.

The UI and people's images could represent the current era the player is in too, yay for the 60's haircuts and brown and yellow flowerchild GUI!

  • Oh lord... this thread is made of win.

Pure genius again there Deadeye, and Quazi's follow-up just made my day.
