is there a way to be able to avoid having to place every object in the room?
I just want to place the ones that I am using and then spawn the ones in I need

also how does this work with containers and parents?

Have you thought about looking into tilemaps and then just using objects only for interactive objects and ones that need precise collision? Such as involving layering moving if the player is behind or in front of an object.
Zelda Gamekit (my project)

Example capxs:

Zelda-Style Inventory

Zelda Health

3-saveslot system

So if I understand, you are facing the error that says: "Cannot create an instance of the object type 'sprite': there are no instances of this object in the project.", but you're not willing to place an original instance anywhere in your level ?

What I have done on my side is creating a "garbage" level, that has no use in the game itself, wherein I place one instance of every single object type.
You only need to create one object in the whole project, not one per layout.
