How do I create one each of a family?

I'm trying to make a list that shows one each of a family. So not only is my for loop (from 0 to Family.Count) only counting the number of Family existing currently on the layout, but when I do System - Create Object, it doesn't let me specify which object in the family to create.

The family object is not a container of every element within the family, it is an abstraction of every element in the family so that common rules can be applied to each member. When creating a new object, simply call System-> Create new object -> The object you wish to create an instance of. Because the object is still registered as part of the family, every instance you create will be in the family.
Nothing goes unanswered!

I remember reading about a plugin called Nickname, it may do the job :-/
Using R243 for all examples
