How do I Downwell Level Gen

Get help using Construct 2

Post » Wed Apr 20, 2016 4:52 am

Hello C2 friends,

I know this is a very broad question but I am interested in the overview of how a levels in Downwell would be constructed. There are solid wall and destructible blocks and enemies. I imagine it to be a procedural shell of solid walls and the other bits spawning where those solid walls are not. Please pardon my ignorance in this.

Thanks in advance!

It's basically a vertical flappy birds.
Player gets to y, do foo, set y to to y plus offset.
Foo being a range of random possibilities.

Thanks the quick response newt. I was thinking more along the lines of how the procedural level gen with enemies and destructible bricks was created.

Downwell, I think, generates an entire level each go. Not so much put a bunch of bricks here, or there, but more like choose a random pre made layout.
Basically you design a bunch of levels, and save (as json).
The built in save would work well for this.
Probably need the browser object as well to download the data.
You would make an editor, and game made out of the editor.
