[how do i] go about in a game like whack a penguin

how would i attempt to make a game like whack a(the?) penguin?

i thought of doing the infinite scrolling with the object(penguin role) just bounce on the spot to make it look like so, but it doesnt really work... cant really simulate the speed of it moving, the projection and dont know how i can make it bounce on the same spot to simulate it looking like it got hit on whatever angle and power ><

If you are using physics, simply set the X position to the same value every tick. So that its basically only evaluating the Y position.

umm when i set x to the same position on every tick, it just gets stuck on one spot :s or did i misunderstood what you meant?
