How do I Know what fonts are available? (xdk)

Get help using Construct 2

Post » Fri Oct 17, 2014 3:19 pm

I´m working on a Project (Intel XDK) and after searching for webfonts noticed that I can´t trust they will display correctly. So, as my C2 shows all my installed fonts I don´t know what are the default ones?

Is there a list of fonts that will work 100% with Intel Xdk?

Thanks in advance

You can use spritefonts to create and use whichever font you desire.

@justifun thanks for your comment but I already know the spritefont (that as long I know is an image, not a system font), but I think it is mono spaced.

I still want to know the known list of system fonts.

Has anyone managed to bundle custom TTF fonts with an Intel XDK build?

Spritefonts have terrible kerning. Webfonts rely on a connection that is not always available. I need to be able to use any TTF font.

Help!

@Scofano Thanks I didn't know about that. I will use it in future, but for this project I need to be able to change the point size so the user can smoothly scale a font. I guess I could have a sprite font image for all font sizes, a bit inefficient but it could work.
@Magistross Thank you, I will investigate.

Hello, about a year has passed since this post but I think I found the solution for your problem @aquinn
I just put the font type .eot (embedded open type) generated with Fontsquirrel's generator, put those files and CSS inside Construct. Then exported the project for Cordova using new intel xdk project format. And from Intel XDK generated the apk and no problems loading the font :D
I had tried lots of times with the other types (ttf, woff, woff2, svg) but then I realized that eot was embedded so I tried that one and it worked!

@fedemcuru: are u saying that you uploaded .eot font type to Fontsquirrel's web font generator? And can you tell me where did you put the downloaded files inside construct 2 and how did you assign the textView to a particular font.
Thanks
