How do I make a beat em up game?

Making a beat' em up type game. Trying to figure out how to keep the "player" object on the ground (the horizon line should stop upward movement) looks like he's flying in the air

physics is your friend.
Look at the tutorials under physics

Go through the tutorials on the platformer, etc... that will give you all you need to know, also look up collision polygons and image points as they will be the key to getting things to line up the way you want...

checked the physics tutorials, seem too intrusive on the game environment for what im trying to do. Basically keep the "player" within a set parameter on the game screen. Gonna try "image points" not only that, but setting up an invisible polygon to collide with, lets see what happens. Thanks for the tips!!!!
