How do I make a more ropey grappling hook

So, I've made a grappling hook, but it's really just a stick that the player rides up once the hook is attached. I want to give it a more rope like look so that it actually bends. But I cant figure it out? Help??

Two approaches off the top of my head:

1. Canvas plugin to draw the rope dynamically - plugin-canvas_t64239

2. Depending on the resolution/graphical fidelity of your game, you may be able to make the rope out of pixels and manipulate them mathematically..

There is also some magic going on here r0j0-039-s-experiments_t91829 in the second example where he is able to use a rectangular sprite and make a nice pretty curve with it. I'm trying to decipher it myself at the moment...

@oosyrag Thanks for the help but I can't figure any of these out, is there any other example of maybe (not preferably) a .capx file around. One that doesn't need a plugin perhaps

Its hard to imagine what you are looking for exactly... In my mind most grapples would be a straight line anyways, like in the Worms games, or like this example - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=69TYNUwIhaE .

@oosyrag for what I'm using it for, it needs to curve and bend. Also how do you even implement a bezier curve into the rope of the grapple hook?

When would it bend?
Could it be solved with animations?
I told my dentist I had trouble with my teeth and asked her to fix it without looking in my mouth..

@LittleStain So, it would bend when the grapple hits an isolated block and the player spins around the block.
