How do I make fonts smooth?

Get help using Construct 2

Post » Sat May 31, 2014 5:28 pm

Hello,

I'm looking to make a font smooth, Like the one used in a unity game: 52
Here's it's link : http://bmo.fuckthisjam.com/submissions/67-52

When I use a font it looks pixel on the edges .. Should I use a sprite font or there's a trick behind this?
If you know any sprite fonts that looks smooth, please post them in a comment.

Cheers,
IamHadzy

DOM Apps should use TextBoxes, TextAreas.

Games should use SpriteFont. First the basic Font that comes in SpriteFont is NOT meant to be used unless your doing retro games and you need black. You should ASAP switch to a different font. Do a forum search for GiveYourFontsMono.

next make the Font BIG. I mean 72pt big in the GYFM program. Scaling down will retain quality. Scaling up loses quality.

As for Unity. Unity may use two different version. Font Rendering and Sprite Fonts. I usually Tk2D Font system used and there sample Fonts use big sprites ie 64x64 per letter.

@jayderyu Thanks, but I couldn't install it (Since it require .NET 4.5 which doesn't work on my PC) ..
However, I'd be glad if you could link me to any sprite fonts that look similar to the one in the game, 52.

Sorry about that. I never thought about checking where 4.5 could be installed. Give this one a try - only needs 4.0. Let me know how it goes.
