How do I pause a scrolling Background? and other things

So I set the system timescale to 1 and I set the keyboard key on pressed system is 1 - timescale but the problem is that only the enemies pause in place. My scrolling tiled BG is unaffected and the player does actually freeze in place except when I release the key on the player it reverts to the default pose. I do want the player to revert to default position on key released but not when it's paused.

Thanks

Make sure you stop the animation when timescale is 0. Then start the animation when timescale is 1. That works for me.

Do you mind showing the steps to set it up in the event sheet?

If BG movement is not dt related it won't be affected by timescale changes.

Regarding the character change in pose, you must pause your controls when you pause the game. I suggest putting them all in a group and deactivating the group when game is paused.

Both topics and many more are explained in this tutorial by @Ashley.

You definitely should read it! :)

I tested them on my platformer prototype. Shouldn't be problem anymore if you also pass global variable "pause" to be checked while the player still pressed a button. Or you can just enable/disable platformer user input.

Damn, sorry Alextro for making you go through trouble to screencap an example but I actually did what bruno suggested by putting them in groups to toggle activate. That was so simple I couldn't believe I didn't think of that.

Thanks bros.

Sure there is many ways doing things in Construct. Someone prefer one methode over others. Experiences will tell.

Did the dt change for the Bg work fine, @Dliu3d?

I put the scrolling BG in a group and toggled the activate which worked flawlessly.
