  • So this is probably a very stupid question, but I see some people 'host' their game from 'dl.dropboxusercontent.com/.......'

and I would like to know how, so I can do it too!

Tried alot, but no succes, probably because I'm not that smart ;(

Can anyone help me? Or tell me a better place to upload my unfinished game(s)?

    Thanks in advance!

  • Just export your game as a HTML5 game to Dropbox Public folder and click on index.html in your game folder. Choose "Copy public link" and thats it.

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

Try Now Construct 3 users don't see these ads
  • I tried that,, but it didn't work .. there was only a 'share link' option, no 'copy public link' I think dropbox itself changed that a while ago..

In any case, if I do click 'share link' and go to said link, it sends me to the actual html-file, to download.

In the same way anyone would upload a .capx if you know what I mean..

  • It's still the same. Are you sure your game folder is in Public folder on dropbox?

  • Weird stuff, I get other options? Or am I doing something very dumb..

  • oh wait. I probably did not put it in a public folder, but I don't know how either? Is it there by default?

  • You should be able to create a Public folder. Only files in Public folder can be shared with others.

  • Wow I didn't even know that, thanks for explaining that!

  • ah, it's for pro or business users only, I now find out

  • That's not true. I'm not Pro or business, just have a simple Basic account.

I honestly don't know why you don't have a Public folder and can't remember if I had one from the start or I have created one myself... Did you install Dropbox app? maybe then folder will be created.

  • Creating a Public folder

Dropbox links give you everything you need to share and preview files and folders. However, if you’re just a diehard fan of Public folders, click here to enable one on your account. Currently only Pro and Dropbox for Business users can enable Public folders, so you may have to upgrade first.

this is what it says on the site..

I didn't have one to start with either (I think.. don't recall deleting it or anything), but maybe you still have it from before they updated dropbox or something.

  • I did install the Dropbox app, but still nothing.. Dropbox changed the way they shared links on October 4th, 2012.. since then no accounts have a public folder anymore <img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_e_sad.gif" alt=":(" title="Sad"> -Only pro or business accounts

So too bad, thanks for the help though

  • 1) export your game via the Html5 exportation option

2)Upload the whole eported game folder to a PUBLIC dropbox folder

3)go inside the game folder once you have placed it inside the PUBLIC dropbox folder,Right Click the htlm link,Once the list pops up giving you the option to create a URL do so and then copy and paste that into your web browser.

    Enjoy
