How do I snapshot a section of the canvas?

Get help using Construct 2

Hi,

I am making a scratch pad quiz that records work and want to just snapshot that section. Is there a way to just take a snapshot of part of the canvas instead of the entire canvas? Or snapshot the canvas and crop before saving?

I have done this is other game engines but not in construct 2.

Thanks in advance.

I do not know a way of doing this in vanilla C2, but the paster plugin can let you do that (you paste the section inside it, then you download the corresponding URI using the browser object.)
Game design is all about decomposing the core of your game so it becomes simple instructions.

I tried to paste the paster section (with sprites and text on it) into itself and downloaded the results using the browser object but I only get a black rectangle..... Does anyone know how to do this?

Thanks

I figured out what it was...I was trying to paste a text object into paster. I switched to the spritefont and the image records all the pasted object.
