How do I split screen and use "scroll to" action?

Get help using Construct 2

Post » Mon Jul 31, 2017 3:55 pm

Hello everyone? I want to scroll 2 layers (or 2 layouts maybe) seperate (split screen), but the same time, Can i?
Imagine a gameplay with two players with the same background, obstacles etc but with different progress.

I don't need a platform game, i talk about infinite jumping (random obstacles for the 2 players) game with "scroll to" action or similar solution.

Thank you!

Do you mean split screen?

If so, take a look at the following post/thread: https://www.scirra.com/forum/solved-split-screen_p829081?&sid=42317185d6312045a9f54f4ce79eb1f4#p829081.

Is this what you mean?

If so, and considering the .capx is no longer available from the poster, I can provide a link to the .capx from my DropBox HERE.

R0J0hounds link should still be valid for the Canvas or alternatively his Paster addon. Both should work to do a split screen.

IF not, TAG him (he's on regularly) and he will update his links.
If your vision so exceeds your ability, then look to something closer.

First of all, thank you for your reply!

It's a good example for a standard content, obstacles etc etc but can't solve it in my case.

In my project i want to use endless gameplay, with random obstacles.
Just a split screen, 2 players and differenent infinite jump, obstacles for them.

Thanks!

I'm unable to open the capx.

The way the canvas/paster split screen example works is they are moved to the point of the layout you want to see and everything is drawn to it. Finally it's moved back to the screen so it can be seen.

If the game is just vertical scrolling you may be able to not need the canvas at all just position things so they don't move onto the other view. In the case of two independent games just move each player's stuff far enough apart so they don't interfere with each other and use the canvas to make it look splitscreen.

@R0J0hound
The capx link is working (but if you still have issues, it's ok, you can just open a new project and choose "Infinite jumping" from scirra template).

In my project i use "scroll to" action, so how will work with this or there is any other solution?
Can you please attach me a fast capx example, no need a lot things just to understand what you mean better.

Thank you!

@blackhornet
Thank you for your help! :)

It's a good example but how can it work with random obstacles?
I need to create obstacles like "Infinite jumping" example at scirra. Is it possible? :roll:
