This is a single chapter from the "Construct Starter Kit Collection". It is the Student Workbook for its Workshop.
• Is there an easy way to select overlapping object/sprite in Layout view ?

For example i have a stack of 5 card with exactly same size & same position,

How do i select the one in the middle, or the one at the bottom.

In case there is no shortcut to do it yet in C2,

would be nice if for example we can press CTRL + Click and it will iterate through the objects directly underneath the mouse cursor

similar to Adobe Illustrator like this :

Select nested or overlapping objects

• Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

Try Now Construct 3 users don't see these ads
• Yes ur in luck

Just right click on your object, will bring up option box.

You should now see (Z Order) you can move up and down.

-EDIT-

Wow I completly misread your question I think anyhow hope this helps

• thanks Erndog2k,

it's not exactly what i'm looking for but it actually helps quite a bit

i found this thread:

http://www.scirra.com/forum/layout-editor-question_topic37584.html

looks like Construct Classic actually has a shortcut (ENTER+click to select underneath object in layout view),

though i'm not sure if it will iterates through all the objects underneath mouse cursor when you keep clicking.

I think this feature is quite useful, especially when we have lots of object overlapping in the layout, i hope it will be implemented in C2 soon

• That Enter+click feature would've come in handy during my last project. Although, the combination of Enter and click feels awkward since enter is usually used for confirming stuff. Maybe something like shift+scroll could temporarily scroll through the z-layers and then you could click the object you want. Releasing shift would restore the z-orders to the "real deal". This feature should be accompanied by some kind of infobox telling you what's happening and the layer you're currently on.

• I agree, i would prefer CTRL+Click rather than ENTER+Click (Enter is on the right side of keyboard, so if you're not left-handed you have to move your left hand to other side)

CTRL+Click works great on Adobe Illustrator to cycle through all the object underneath the mouse cursor, and i believe it will works great on C2 also :D

• Has anyone found a workaround for this? I cant get to the art under a sprite on the same layer without moving it out of the way, very destructive. even when I select it in the list, I go to move it and it deselects and selects something else in front...

Thanks!

• Here's a thought:

Notate the position for the objects in question.

Move them off of the layer - off of the viewable area - to make them easier to go through.

On the start of layout event, move them into position and layer them in the correct zorder.

• If someone googled it all the way here like me - here is your answer:

tab+click

/necroposting end
