  • Hello!

I wanted to run a question by the Construct community to get your opinion on a project my company is working on.

For the past few months I have been developing a custom arcade site centered around HTML5 games. I've been involved in the arcade scene for a few years now and know that it takes something original to succeed in this business.

The system I have been developing has been built to serve a few purposes:

    1) A platform to publish the highest quality HTML5 games.

    2) Provide a fair revenue share model for developers.

    3) Build a strong community between the developers and the players.

I'm a web developer by trade, but game development is my passion. Part of the reason behind me pushing for this project is so I can provide a decent way for publishers to make money from their HTML5 games.

I know a lot of you will want to know details of the revenue share system, however, at this stage, nothing is finalized by management so I am unable to expand on this point. Sorry!

Here is the proposal to game developers:

We are seeking developers who have completed a HTML5 game and are interested in having it published on our site. As the site is new and just being launched, we are looking for game 'donations' (I guess that's what you'd call it?). In the early stages of the site, there will be no revenue share model. Once the site reaches a certain level of visitors per day, the revenue share model will be introduced.

"Why should I submit my game now when there's no revenue share?"

Developers who submit games before the site launch will be eligible for the extended revenue share percentage. As I said, nothing is finalized, so I am unable to supply numbers.

So, the question is, are any of you interested in donating your HTML5 games for the launch of this new site?

I'm happy to field any questions.

    Thanks!

    Ryan

  • Don't get me wrong, this is a very nice initiative. However, expecting that someone will "give" you a high quality hand crafted game for free is a little too much. Maybe you're moving in the wrong direction.

Also, this proposal is about exclusive games or non-exclusive? if non-exclusive, it is more likely that people get interested.

  • If its exclusive games and there's not a revenue share model at the moment, you could hand-pick and buy titles from the developers for a cheap price. This could guarantee some good games from launch!

  • Can I see some pictures of what you have of the site so far? I might be interested. I'm trying to get my game out there. Then, if people like it I will make a paid version for somewhere else. I'm polishing up the game so it's almost done.

  • Thanks for develop it.
