  • Hi to all,

I working on a project for iPad and, despite all the good I think about Construct 2, I'm still wondering if it's the right tool for me.

Here is what I try to achieve :

    • The project is meant to run on iPad
    • it's not an arcade game but more like an interactive book, an adventure game or a webdocumentary. So CPU speed and device reactivity doesn't really matter
    • It will widely make use of sound, but more like ambient sound and sound trigered by buttons like play an interview, play sound when action is performed.
    • some video will be used, again, like play an interview at user's request.

I'd like to make an iOs app out of it. I'm planning to use Phongap.

What do you think, all points considered ?

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

Try Now Construct 3 users don't see these ads
  • it's not an arcade game but more like an interactive book, an adventure game or a webdocumentary. So CPU speed and device reactivity doesn't really matter

    than, Construct 2 is for you <img src="smileys/smiley2.gif" border="0" align="middle" />

try to build the game and see it yourself, beside that their also appmobi and cocoonjs option which his some boast benefit over phonegap, in case you care for performances.

    [edit]

sorry didn't see the video point >_<

i think you can use plugin, but not sure about if would implemented with phonegap.

Thanks for your answer. Yes, I planned to use the video plugin to implement video, an html plug in, actually.

Can appmobi and cocoonjs generate iOs app that cans be distributed through the appstore ?

  • Appmobi can generate for IOS, while currently CocoonJS support Android, but as i know they too plan for ios export :D.

  • I'd be careful with audio... support for it is veeeeery sketchy at the moment, especially on mobile devices.

  • What kind of problem is there with audio ? Is it not working at all, erratic, lag problems, synchro ?

  • Audio is fine so long as you use PhoneGap, appMobi or CocoonJS to wrap your app. However in the Safari browser you can only play one sound at a time and it can only play audio on a user input event, e.g. "On touch".

  • that's really good news :)

    Thanks Ashley
