Hunter's Tale is (will be) an old fashioned action RPG in pixelart settled in a world filled with strange looking creatures. A demo is coming late september. The team is composed mainly by three people: Giuseppe Santangelo (coding), Francesco Segala (art) aka Bad Tempered Dev, and Mauro Kenji Serra (music).

THE GAME

Our challenge was to have a sidescrolling game that would have focused on tactical fights and exploration: using depth allowed us (and the player) to move freely around the environment, and areas are designed to contain also hidden areas and paths.

The athmosphere was important too: this is why we decided to have a pixelart that was supposed to look more like a sort of concept art drawed with pixels, and the music won't be "retro" too.

You’ll face a fantasy world in which animals have taken over the world and humanity lives in small villages. You are a hunter just arrived in the village and his job is to supply food to those people wandering around the wildlands and hunting all sort of different beasts. Crafting new weapons and armors will be fundamental to go forward.

THE PLAN

We started the preproduction last March, and the actual game development from May. We want to see if the demo and trailer will be appreciated in order to decide how to move forward (go crowdfunding maybe, we don't know yet).

As we wanted to develop a full demo, we decided to focus only on one environment, the trailer and the demo (and all the material released so far) will contain scenes and monsters from the swamp only.

If we'll move on with the full game there will be more zones of course.

We just launched a campaign on epocu http://epocu.com/campaigns/hunters-tale/
it's basically like kickstarter, but instead of money they ask supporters to share the game on social networks.
If you like the project, consider becoming a supporter ;)

thanks everyone! Hope you'll like the gameplay too!
sorry for writing this again, but it's the final week for the epocu campaign and we need to reach 50 supporters (we got 27 right now)
a login and a share is all that is takes, it's not a crowdfunding campaign, it's about visibility.
Can you support us? Thanks in advance

Looks great! I take it it's inspired by Monster Hunter series?

Yep, some lements are from the mh saga, other from zelda or mana...if you want to do a good action rpg you must consider the milestones ;)

Thanks again for all the positive feedback, and just to say that again, we got 42 out of 50 supporters on epocu!
If you want to become a supporter all you need to do is login and say that you will share the project! No actual money asked, just shares!

Very impressive art style. What art program do you use and what program to animate it?
