You can also try to find an artist at deviant art. Some may be willing to work free if givin commission from a final product.

Build a prototype using placeholder art assets ; if the concept is good and the game plays well, it'll be easier to find an artist to join you.

Lots of "game ideas" never reach the point of a product release and are aborted during early stages, therefore unless you're already a well-known developer, no one will join an "idea" only on the prospect of possible future commissions.

I'm in the same boat, I'm just making a game with crappy sprites to make a "proof of concept" of my gameplay. Hopefully when I'm done I'll find someone willing to help out.

@88u As others said, if you make a proof of concept it's a lot easier to get others to help out because then they can see your idea in action and some artists even will work for free either just for something to put in their portfolio or for royalties.

Type in google Free download 2d art assets make sure, you don't type free royalty, cause that means can also not be free but you buy the full rights.

also knowing to edite a image in photoshop helps :P u should pick that skills up a bit.
