Impact (javascript) Engine a new "rival" (?)

Discussion and feedback on Construct 2

[quote="Ashley":39b20gft]I think that's a good alternative to scripting for now?[/quote:39b20gft]
That's fair enough. Hopefully, if/when inline scripting is added..it is fully integrated..that's my only request. Maybe, I'll put some Fundry towards it. ;-)

Yeah a scripting workflow like Unity would be a killer feature for me. I know it's not thaaat hard to make something roughly like it, specially if you use the right tools. I integrated Javascript V8 in an engine i used and it worked quite well. Though it was not that fast with many objects on screen... But Ashley surely knows better than me if it would be hard or not :D

And Impact is paid. C2 is Open Source.

Construct rules.

This and Construct 2 in it's alpha stage is already almost as good as Impact :D Well Impact map editor has an ok tile system, visual triggers, sound (choppy , clunky at times) , box2d physics etc... but C2 will catch on :D

Sorry to bring back from the dead that old thread.
I was thinking about the fact that ImpacTJS doesn't use a UIWebView, but was translating JS to an OpenGL/OpenAL underlying engine.
Since we have a problem with HTML5 audio on iOS (impossible to have two sounds playing simultaneously), does somebody knows if it's possible to bypass that limit by running the C2 export through ImpactJS ?
Does somebody already tried to run the exported index.html through that engine ?

@Pode, isn't that done by passing it through AppMobi? If so, you could try using an exported C2 project with AppMobi.

@Ashley: I think you are right. By checking quickly the samples on the site of Impact JS, I saw that you need to call specific CSS tags and JS stuff for the ImpactJS framework to do its magic (I suppose that for the OpenGL/OpenAL layer to find its eggs, it's the sensible thing to do).
So I'm going to investigate the AppMobi route.

Plugins are important in C2, it will change the look of events.
And it's a good way to co-work with other game-designers, they don't need to learn how to write code first.rexrainbow2011-11-15 08:09:19

I must say that I'm quite impressed with the level editor in ImpactJS.
