Increase indent in Event Sheet

Discussion and feedback on Construct 2

Post » Sat Mar 23, 2013 4:37 am

Hi Ashley, I want to suggest be able to choose the indent sub events.
I find it hard to differentiate sub events visually.

Thanks

Sub events are already indented, and you can collapse then to only have the top event.

You can also use groups to organize the event sheet.

And you can add comments.

Yes, that's what I'd like, even Bigger indents, customizable hopefully, or a different color.

Have you tried using Groups and Subgroups?

I used to get lost easily in my project's code but once I started using groups and subgroups more liberally it became very manageable.

Yes, but when expanding those groups, still indents will be small.

Bigger indents would be annoying for projects like mine with sub events 10+ levels deep, it could send events off the right of the screen. If this gets implemented, I vote for it being something optional that can be set in the preferences.Arima2013-03-24 17:21:17

Yes, ideally it should be a user preference.

I think the hierarchy could be made clearer by removing the indentation from the blue box of events instead of increasing sub-event indentation. This way a line is created on the border that can quickly be scanned by the eyes, revealing instantly the hierarchical blocks.

Something like this:

(left: current evensheet, right: without indents)

Also removing the lateral horizontal lines could help making it a bit more clean. The horizontal lines just add some unnecessary complexity while the indentation of sub-events already accomplishes the goal of indicating nesting.Animmaniac2013-03-25 04:15:22
