Increase sprite sizes without smoothing?

Get help using Construct 2

Post » Thu Aug 23, 2012 5:47 pm

I've created some 8x8 sprites and want them to be bigger in the actual game but I can't increase the size without C2 smoothing the image, I wanted to keep them blocky, old skool style.

Am I missing something?

Either make the whole game run at a very low res-in a small window size and use point sampling, or use an art program to upscale the images to bigger sizes without filtering. you want "nearest neighbor scaling" or I think in Photoshop scaling while in indexed color mode uses this method...

If the whole game is designed to be low-res, I suggest you go the first rout I mentioned..its much more authentic and wastes way less resources.

Webgl supports point sampling however canvas2D does not ATM, I think.

In C2, the stretched image is smoothed~
But when play in browser, it's sharp~
Hmm~

Set the 'Sampling' property to 'Point' in project properties.

Currently it only takes effect in the browser when WebGL is supported. However, support should be coming eventually to canvas 2D as well, but I don't know of any browsers that have implemented it.

The editor will also use the 'Sampling' property, but if you change it, you will have to close and reopen the project to see the difference.
