Is it possible to play music backwards

Get help using Construct 2

Post » Fri Jun 13, 2014 4:11 pm

I've had a quick go at it, and it looks like music will play slowly, but once it gets to zero and into the minus' it won't play any more.

Anyway of pulling this off?

@spongehammer Yeah, sadly that won't work for what I want to do. I want the game to rewind at points, and would like the music to reverse as well.

I don t think it is possible (mostly due to the way decoding music works)

As spongehammer said, you could use a reversed track, along with the seek to to begin at the good moment of the track
Game design is all about decomposing the core of your game so it becomes simple instructions.

Shame... oh well, as long as it's possible, I'll do it that way. I just didn't want to have the exact same track twice where I could have it once. Waste of storage space.

There's one tutorial that shows something similar to what was done in Braid. I haven't checked it myself but perhaps there's useful info about how to do this. Good luck!

The above video seems to use what I was going to suggest, simply using a generic rewind sound effect (garbled audio) to overlay the current music.
