🎃 Darkness Boom UI Sound Pack comes with 350 high-quality sound effect
  • Hey friends, this is my newest MASTERPIECE it's got everything a good game needs:

    • bombs
    • aliens
    • fun
    • excellent STORY!

    Check it out on Kongregate

    Cheers!

  • hmmm i don't want to lie but i didn't like the graphis if you if you would take off the gradient in everything it will be better , also why its in space??anyway good idea but the big mistake is!i can enter anylevel i want even if they are locked fix that and keep the good work nice idea^^

  • Hey zsangerous, thanks for the feedback! I fixed the "locked" bug, thanks.

Thanks for commenting on the graphics too , I guess that's how far my artistic spirit can go at the moment he he.

    Hope you enjoyed it otherwise!

  • Cool game man. What you said in the description of the game was true! We got everything we need for having fun. Unfortunately, I was stuck at level 17. I couldn't kill all the enemies. If you plan to update the game with new features, I will suggest to add the possibility to have the solution or maybe just a clue on how to complete a level.

For the graphics issue, I didn't have any problem but, if you want to change them, I will suggest these (you probably know them) "Play With Your Peas". Players are more attracted by something "shining and beautiful".

    Here is the link:

    Play With Your Peas

    And a screenshot:

They are free to use and you just need to put the name of the creator in your credits. In addition, you will only need a couple of them (just the peas). You could change the color of Peas to create enemies by using "The Gimp" (it's very easy to do that. You can also find tutorials about that on the internet).

Hope this helps! By the way, feel free to try also my game and leave me some comments. I will appreciate. You can play it through my signature.

  • Hey anthonykojima, thanks for the feedback, it does help and it's appreciated. Too bad you got stuck at level 17 (here's the solution btw), that's when the fun barely starts

I hope this will unstuck you, you're just one level away from Movie 4, and (hint hint) level 24 is really FUN you get to blow up lots of bad guys

The peas do look nice, I very much agree. I will consider them if I make a sequel, or perhaps change in the game too (too late night to start doing it now...). Thanks for the tip.

I did play your game back when you launched it, but I got stuck, couldn't find something that was needed for the guy to give me the money IIRC.

I'll have a look again, and congrats for the game, it's quite successful

  • Thanks for the tip! I will try to beat the game this time. Keep up the work.

  • Nice game. I found it very enjoyable to play. Here are some things that I came across when playing:

    1. The dialogue bubbles cover Jim's ship entirely. I would put his ship somewhere else. Just a small issue really.

    2. The music needs to be adjusted to get the timing right for the loop.

    3. The sound effects check box does not work. I unchecked it but could not re-check it.

    Cheers

  • Hey simwhi, glad you liked it. I'll create more such games. I fixed #3 (thanks for the bug report, appreciated); I'll see about #1 and #2, they are just minor inconveniences as you said, not sure I'll get to fix them .

Thanks for taking the time to write the feedback.

  • It's OFFICIAL friends, Ka-Boom Boom Boom is now a TRILOGY. I just published episode 3, another masterpiece

Easy gameplay, extremely motivating story line (hell, it's almost an RPG )

    Check out Episode 3!

Mentioning a few people who said they liked the first or second part, GenkiGenga, simwhi, anthonykojima - hope you guys like this one too, it's the same general style ("quickie" category, funny dialogues etc).

    Cheers!

  • Nice work Geo, I like that you can access the other episodes from each game.

The difficulty in this episode ramps a little too slowly for me. I think if you made your enemies move a bit (instead of staying static) not only would it increase the difficultly but it would give a bit of life to your game as well.

The dialogue between Jim and his nemesis reminds me of Metroman, they seem to have more fun jesting than actually shooting each other down (which is fun). It would be nice if there was some faces to go with the dialogue (since this episode seems to be more story driven).

Episode 2 i still my fav - but its really good that you are trying new things. As always good job and best of luck in Kongregate Geo.

  • Great game logic and experience Geo. To give some ideas I can go trought the design elements:

yellow mission text: good usability, readable on any bg. Maybe soe trick to make it fit better to the design?

table grey bg: you may use some terrian bg.

Altrought the game is very good, the movies are placed in good "rhytm" and the tutorial is supeb!

  • Thanks GenkiGenga and

Yes good idea, I think I'll make the enemies move up and down a bit in the next episode.

The asteroids aren't moving, I thought about making them slowly move but dropped it for the same reason as above.

I don't have Photoshop unfortunately but yes, the gradients look good, I might try to "copy" them.

Most graphics (all but the "exit gate" and the buttons actually) are from the Scirra bundle he he.

    Thanks again for the feedback!

  • Ohh, I have the bundle in my harddrive, but did not used it yet. :)

Maybe a gimp gradient set will be more useable for you: gimp-tutorials.net/130-UltimateWeb20-Gradients-for-Gimp

I know that the game design is very different from web design what I have experience in, but to have several (2 or 3) main colors in UI elements may be a good practice in this area too.

I mean that You have the green/blue/grey colors in level select: the green is an open/choosable level, bule is movie (what is like a "misc" property), and grey is closed.

You may use these colors in the gameplay to let players use their "color-meaning experience" in levels too: green for normal play controls, like the bg of bombs, and the Ka-Boom!! button. Blue for misc UI elements like restart, select level, or music/sound on/off and grey for non active/non clickable elements like mission title and brief.

Well, if I read it again, I can not imagine a perfect way to do it. But I've typed this theoretical idea already so post it and you may ignore... :)

  • Hey guys, quick update, next episode is out, check it out

GenkiGenga Thanks, Added movement for enemy ships, ground rocket launchers, made the game a bit harder - I think you'll enjoy this episode more. And of course, the story continues...

Epox - thanks, but I didn't have time to polish it. My graphics artist skills need some sharpening, polishing takes me too long time, I prefer to make one more game at this point in time. I guess I'm not at that phase yet, I feel I need to build stronger foundation and get more experience before moving to polishing. But I'll get there for sure, probably not with the Ka-Boom Boom Boom series, but with a separate project.

    Cheers!

  • Good job dude. I've been playing all the episodes now and it's really cool that you always propose something new.

I agree with Genkigenga on some points concerning the difficulty and the enemies who are not moving. Keep up your work anyway.

Are you working on another kind of project by the way? If yes, is it still taking place in space?
