• Hi all,

Let me introduce you my first game with Contruct 2. It is called "This Is Cute !". This is the thread dedicated to the game. I will put all the updates concerning the game here.

Here is the link to play it:

I'm a big fan of The Legend of Zelda 2D games and I wanted to created a game like "The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past" - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Legend_of_Zelda:_A_Link_to_the_Past .

    [The Game]

This is the first Episode of the Game. More episodes will come soon!

It is an Puzzle/Adventure game. This game won't be about heroic fantasy but funny stories and jokes with a simple and enjoyable gameplay. I want that the dialogs between characters are funny. Nevertheless, in addition to the funny story, I will put a lot of riddles. It could be any kind of riddles. Even funny riddles

    [The Story]

It's the story of a guy, who is unemployed (he is a RPG heroe, so...he has to be unemployed or we don't know what his job is ). Everything starts at KrappyTown, your home town. you receive a letter from your grandPa to give to the mayor of the city of BizyTown... You will have to convince ChristianBel the guardian to let you leave the town. After fighting again some monsters, the adventure begins!

  • Here are some updates,

    [Graphics]

Unfortunately, I'm not good at game design and I don't know how to create sprites. Therefore I decided to use graphics made by other people. I used "PlanetCute" graphics (made by Daniel Cook). I put some icons for the items. You can find icons on sites like iconarchive.com, findicons.com

    [Music]

I want to put really good music in the game. I have been looking for very good and free RPG music. Try to listen to some tracks while you're playing. I think you will love them. You can find the name of the music and the author in the credits at the end of the game.

  • Another update,

    [Gameplay]

The gameplay is really simple. Nothing revolutionary. The player moves with the arrows keys and to interact with items or people you click on them.

The player will earn news items everytime he will complete some missions. These new objects will be used only for specific events or for completing some dungeons.

At the end of each dungeon, the player will fight against the boss of the dungeon. Each boss will have specific way to defeat him.

  • This looks lovely, look forward to seeing it progress! :)

  • I like the night time effect, is that like a transparent topmost layer with opacity set to 50%? Looking good.

Thanks a lot qster. Did you try to play it on Scirra Arcade ?

It's been one month I've been working on this game. And I have already used 100 events!!! Haaaa Haaa . I currently working on Episode 2.

Thanks cacotigon. Yes it is. I looked for a "blue night" color on the Internet and I created a topmost layer with that color. I reduced the opacity.

I also added an animation for the lights in houses to make it more realistic. You can see it if you play the game.

  • Nice work. Very classic feel. I would make one recommendation. Add/replace controls with WASD. I can't stand using the mouse and the arrow keys together.

I like the simple idea for day/night cycle.

  • Hey Anthony,

Yep I played this on the arcade! :)

I would like to make a couple of suggestions though, when the characters are talking sometimes the text overlaps, happens to me in both FF and Chrome. It would be nice to click to continue as well, instead of waiting for the next bit of text to appear. Sometimes the collision with objects seems a bit harsh.

Other than that I think you've done a great job, look forward to seeing the next installment! :)

    Hi solidgames,

Thanks for the recommendation. I will update the game by adding the WASD controls. I think you are right.

qster: Thanks for all your recommendations.

I will update the game considering them. You are right to say that I should add the possibility to pass the text by click or sometihing. And, could you give an example when the collision is a bit harsh ?

Thanks. By the way, did you finish the game? I have the impression that I created really difficult riddles and I don't want that :/

  • Hey thats a cool game you got there using the planetcute set. I've always wanted to make an RPG with it myself. I havent had a chance to play it yet cos im looking at this on the phone, but im definately gonna have a go when i can. cool stuff this! :)

Thanks a lot for your comment. I will be please if you try the game and leave me some feedback since we both use the PlanetCute graphics.

I'm about to upload the first update of the game. I realized I made a lot of mistakes and there are so much stuff I would like to improve. I don't know how to correctly use global variables. I used them all the time and it's not a good way to do stuff.

Anyway, feel free to tell me what you think of the game.

  • Bug: Things get messed up you press the "p" key once the game starts...

  • Bug: Things get messed up you press the "p" key once the game starts...

Thanks a lot for your comment. I was able to reproduce that bug.

I will fix that ASAP. I didn't think of that case because the player is not supposed to play with the key
  . My bad.
