Layer background colour

For questions about using Classic.

Anyone know the parameters for editing the background colour of a layer are?

In the properties tab there is a line titled background. Now sometimes it is possible to edit this, and sometimes it is not possible. I have no idea what criteria is involved.

Cheers

if your layer is set to transparent, it makes no sense to set the background color. Toggling transparent enables/disables setting the background color.

Ok, thank you Tulamide!

I had tried that, but now I have found that you have to deselect the layer and reselect it to update the lock on the background colour.

Ah, yes, that is disturbing as long as you are not used to it.

OK, here is another one.

There does not seem to be any way to affect the background colour with events.

Am I missing something?

If it isn't possible to do with events at the moment, any devs want to hazard a guess at the difficulty of adding it...

You can change the colour and opacity using:

Hope this helps

(you could use the bottom layer as your background?)chrisbrobs2011-07-30 09:45:05

Unfortunately that is the colour filter of the layer, not the background colour.

I am using the multiply/shadow caster/light set up and changing the layer colour filter would taint the colour of the lights.

As an aside, changing the opacity really screws up the multiply effect, so maybe adjusting the background colour in real time will be pointless also. :(
