Linux Node Webkit Error

Discussion and feedback on Construct 2

Post » Fri May 30, 2014 1:11 pm

Hi,

I posted a prototype I made on Reddit's Feedback Friday, I exported using Node Webkit then zipped the files and uploaded them to Dropbox. Apparently the Linux version causes this to happen:

./newproject: error while loading shared libraries: libudev.so.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

I'm not sure if I'm doing something wrong, whether the Linux user is doing something wrong or whether this is a Connstruct issue. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks :)

Trying to get linux build to work I came across this: http://askubuntu.com/questions/288821/h ... so-0-error

basically libudev.so.0 doesn't exist so fake a link to libudev.so.1

32bit OS:
cd /lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/
sudo ln -sf libudev.so.1 libudev.so.0

Faking a link to libudev.so.1 will work, but it's a crude hack and can break other linux programs. There are some other ways to work around the problem...see the suggestion by TenLeftFingers in the link anubis666 posted.

Bottom line though is that none of the solutions are end-user freindly. This is a compatibility issue with node-webkit export, not with the C2 engine itself. Eventually it will be rectified (supposedly when node hits version 1.0, iirc).
Don't lose your work. Backup your game with Dropbox.

Yeah Linux has basically never worked, just keep waiting for a couple more years (thankfully almost no one uses it though).

it worked in the past according to some Devs, now we need an update for node.js for Scirra to fix it.
