Looking for some advice/opinions on appealing to players

Ideas and discussion about publishing and distributing your games

Post » Fri Jan 13, 2017 5:48 pm

Hi guys! As I'm getting ready to release another update I would like to take an opportunity to ask if you would check out the game and let me know what you would like to see in it. Also check out the devlog to see what is currently planned. I really love getting feedback, but lately it seems hard to get.

I look forward to hopefully hearing from some of you! :D

I tried it as well, it definitely does have potential, just work on some of the confusing aspects, however so far so good:)

Thank you! What are the confusing aspects? Are you referring to the levels or controls?

Let people know when you have done a major update like new levels to your games in the forum. I have my Pinball Sandbox in the top games and it bounces around a little but I use my own website and social networks to promote it and I use the forum to announce any major updates like the new Simpson's theme pinball layout I just added.

Don't be afraid to ask your friends to play and leave a rating. If a game doesn't get high ratings at first it usually ends up buried never to be noticed again. Once it has some good ratings more people will play and rate it.

See how that works ;-)

Thank you for your feedback. I have some higher aspirations for the game, and am currently working with a number of people on Fiverr for everything from sprites to voice acting. Once I have the game polished and looking really nice I plan to upload that version as a new game. Then I probably won't update the version on Scirra except for bug fixes. I will be sure to take your advice when I upload the games final Scirra Arcade version.

Hi tallenwebdev,

It seems like everyone is suggesting hiding old ver. of your game and uploading a new ver. As the creator of Bio-Gun I wanted to point out that I kept updating the same game ver. insteading uploading a whole new game and hiding the old. You wont believe how many times people will come back to your game to see how your game is doing and if it has been updated. My advise it to be as responsive as you can in your comment section and to make sure to upload a new ver. at least once or twice a week.

As to your original question.
Make sure when you post your games on any forum including scirra arcade you have a very solid first build. 90% bug free, polished, and attention to small details. People who play your game will feel respected and will come back to it more often.

-Best of luck to you and your future endeavors tallenwebdev!

Thank you very much for your feedback and kind words! I think I am going to re-upload a new version when the game is ready, but it's because the game has come so far from the current arcade version. Also since the game has now become a much bigger project that I down the road intend to monetize, I want to start clean with a demo on the Scirra Arcade. Plus my first versions (and the current arcade version) aren't near as polished as your game! Which is why I want a fresh start too.

Again thank you!
