@rogueNoodle - You can use any tool you like for the compo, there are no forbidden IDEs or middleware. The only real rules for the compo are that:
you must work alone
you must create every element of the game within the 48hrs (inc. sound)
and you must share your source files (so the capx)

@SecondDimension - Thanks for clarifying! I guess it was the source code thing that confused me, but releasing the capx makes sense. Looking forward to this.

I'm definitely in. This will be my 3rd time participating, and I'm pumped. In preparation, I've been working on a few general functions in C2. Nothing fancy or genre specific, just things that I tend to have in all my games that I don't want to spend time making during the 48 hours. There are things like like fade in/out, showing/progressing dialog boxes, text encoding (for data to be sent to my server) etc. The files will be attached in a post on LD's site prior to the competition, but I may post them here as well.

And it's bedtime. First day of work done, and I'm very happy with the progress I've made. You can play it here. Any feedback is welcome!
I've managed to get leaderboards working with Clay.io, so see if you can find an exploit to get you to the top.
Also, the graphics are not final. Today's focus was the gameplay, so tomorrow I polish the rest of the game up.
