  • Hello,

I dont know if you have ever thought about it but i know

i have from finding construct and learning its easy interface

i always was thinking of making an operating system i have made

a couple of i guess prototypes and i always fall short of my initial ideas'

so i came out and im asking all of the great construct creators to make

an OS and post them i will also post mine.

  • What???? Are you a bot, because that's crazy talk about making an OS in Construct. You would have to do nearly all of the core code with plugins to have low enough level access. Interesting idea though.

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

  • It's impossible in Construct, you need specialist tools to make your own OS.

Impossible, impossible? It is indeed possible, consider a system that opens above the windows, as a portable system with simple functions, I've done this in the construct.

  • Loool.

You can learn Assembler and try to make a OS

No, that's not what an operating system is. Windows is an operating system and the application you have just described is still running on the Windows operating system. To write a true operating system, you have to start by writing a bootloader in assembler, for example, then making device drivers for all the devices that could possibly attach to the computer, etc...

If the question is "can I make a computer organiser" or "system manager" or something that runs on top of Windows, then the answer is yes, nothing's stopping you. But that is something completely different to an OS!

  • Ok, Ashley.

I create a OS in Windows XP, the name is : Conix.

They have their own system applications

That is not an OS an OS is much more complicated. It manages resources, it interacts directly with the hardware. By default anything that runs in windows or uses windows for anything is not an OS, because you need an OS to run it. As Ashley said it is not possible to make an OS in construct, to make an OS you would need to learn Assembler.

  • All of you are right and i realized that what i had asked is nearly impossible so im not asking is it possible to make an OS now im asking if any one would want to try to make a program that looks like an operating system but runs its own pre-installed programs. Its not an OS but a shell if you have any ideas reply

I am confused why you might want to do that? Just for fun or to see how far you can go? I am sure you would lean a lot about Construct in doing that but in the end what would you have, or how often would you use it?

I do not have lots of free time and would rather spend it making game or program that I and other would find very enjoyable to play.

Good luck with your endeavor and I will definitely give it a try when you are done just to see how far you got. Only in Cap form though for obvious reasons.

  • Thank you and when i am done which wont be in a while i will post it if any one will still be interested the name will be Spring Raven

Also i am looking for a partner to make a program with pre-installed games if anyone is interested

    you stupid

  • this has to be a joke

  • [quote:2s2kcgf7]this has to be a joke

    I laughed

I got a engine in the SO construct, if you want, send you by MP

  • Guys, don't be mean and call someone stupid. It's better to try to help them. Calling names is rude and doesn't help anyone.
