  • Couple of screenshots of a Match3 game bulder i am working on.

    The game(app) lets you create unique Match3 type game's using a simple wizard type interface.

    The logic and events are based on PixelRebirth's match3 tutorial....so many thanks to him.

    The following cap is just a simple example of a game created with it.

  • Hey, interesting idea. I'm sure people will have fun with this.

  • I like this! A game builder created using a game builder! <img src="smileys/smiley32.gif" border="0" align="middle" />

  • Not as easy as i thought it would be!

    At the moment, the app lets you do the following -

    1, Set the background image.

    2, Change the individual frame images.

    3, Pick different sounds for swapping, matching and destroying.

    4, Create timed or random levels.

    5, Create a new game folder containing the exe. file, images sounds that can be distributed.

    Managed to sort the main bits, just need to add some extra stuff like bonuses and levels.

  • (almost) game maker made in game maker <img src="smileys/smiley1.gif" border="0" align="middle" /> nice one chrisbrobs

  • maybe in an advanced version of match 3, we will create a game builder from it

    <img src="smileys/smiley16.gif" border="0" align="middle" />

  • This is a test version of the 'Match3 game maker' i have been working on.

    <img src="http://dl.dropbox.com/u/22173473/match3%20main.png" border="0">

    <img src="http://dl.dropbox.com/u/22173473/match3%20splash.png" border="0">

    Open the rar file and copy the complete folder to your hard drive.

    1, Start the builder by running 'Match3 Maker.exe'

    2, Pick a background image.

    3, Pick the animation frames for the blocks.

    4, Pick the in-game sounds.

    5, Enter a name and save.

    6, The finished game should be in the the 'exported games \ game folder.

    7, Test the finished game by running ' My game.exe'

    8, If everything works, you should be able to copy the folder 'game' to another computer and it should play.

    Check the help file for instructions

    (Created with C2 (click the 'index' file to run)

    This build only allows for basic game setting's to be changed (its a test)

    Hopefully, the final version will allow you to change all the game settings (grid sizes, game graphics, sounds, difficulty settings, timers, game logo.....etc.

    Match3 maker test

    Forgot to mention,

    When your creating a game you can click on the blocks in the main window

    to test the settings.

    The logic and events are based on PixelRebirth's tutorials:

  • Latest version of the Match3 game maker.10/07/11

    'Import your own images'

    1, This version lets you import images or photos for the background and individual blocks or frames.

    2, The finished game is saved using whatever name you choose.

    Its still only a test thing.

    Match3 v2

  • Starting to look nice and polished. Well done :D

  • That's a very cool little gamemaker already! I would like to see options to mess with the particle effect and score display, then you would have covered almost all the visual aspects of the game.

    Also what's obviously missing: switching back blocks that don't result in a match. I will upload an updated cap of my tutorial this week which includes this functionality. <img src="smileys/smiley2.gif" border="0" align="middle" />

    Well done so far chrisbrobs, looking forward to new versions!

    Thanks for the feedback.

    If you can sort out an example cap with the 'switch back' events i will add it to the next release.

    I'm got a few ideas for 'bonus game levels' that im trying to add(thanks to ROJOhound) to make it a bit more interesting, and i will try and add

    an option for changing the score boxes and particles(probably the colour).
