Mini Map and Layouts In Layouts

For questions about using Classic.

Post » Sat Mar 21, 2009 10:21 am

I'm using the layout object to separat the UI and game screen. On the UI theres a Minimap. How can I make the minimap draw the game screen?

The game screen is 6400 * 4800 Pixels
The object is 640*480
The UI is 800*600

You can't make it draw a scaled-down version of the entire 6400 x 4800 layout. However, you could try using the 'draw terrain' action to draw objects on, and use sprites or point textures to represent objects in the game.

But that would only show the objects that you can see on the window.

Umm... what? The minimap object draws for the entire game layout.

I don't understand. You just use the draw terrain/plot object actions to generate an overview of the layout with dots for objects. That's what the minimap object does.

Oh. You can't do that right now, I'm afraid.

Why not put the minimap in the layout it's minimapping for? That's what it was intended to do.
