[Mobile] Arial Asteroids a minimalist space game - Dev blog

Hi Folks!! this is the game that I'm working right now, I'm doing with a minimalist and sketchy style because im not an artist hehe!!.

is like the classic Asteroids, but with more features like power ups (weapons upgrade, weapons speed, shields, big shoots) also with boss battles.

This is the first post of the dev blog of this game, i will post upgrades and new apks in order to test until I finish the game.

Here are some screenshots:

What comes to mind is that there are plenty of asteroids clones out there and shmups in general - how to set yourself apart? I think a funny thing to have would be actual Arial Asteroids - instead of these rocks have letters kinda stuck together and as you shoot them they break apart. Additionally small letters could fly off as debris, and, perhaps, your weapons could be symbols or such (period shots, exclamation point missiles).

That would add a funny edge to an otherwise grey (heh) game perhaps.

oh!! nice idea, I will have in mind to try that xD, the space ship could be a capital A, and the asteroids different letters. thanks!!

Now I added some screen shake in order to have a feedback wen the user hits an asteroid, also i change the bullets and the explotions when the bullet hits the asteroid

also I added the game in Google play so any one can beta test it in any android device with 4.0+ when the application is completed published i will post the link.

Well, I think you can improve a few things:

1. You should definitely use a different logo when your game is loading

2. Does your game is supposed to be full screen?

3. You should add way more kinds of asteroids, so it does no look like all are the same

4. What about some enemy ships?

1- yeah the logo is something im leaving for the last xD, its just a beta right now .

2- yea i think it should be full screen but i dont know why is not, i have to improve that.

3- yeah i have more kind of asteroids but i have to animate it and add to the game, i will do that later, first the mechanics xD.

4- maybe for the other levels i will add some ships, yeah its a good idea

a question, could you tell me in which device you test it? and the screen resolution?
