Mobile game successors, How do you make your game fast?

Discussion and feedback on Construct 2

Post » Wed Feb 26, 2014 1:06 pm

Hello,

I have a question to mobile game successors which have "great" games made.
Looking at performance of Construct 2 and then your games, It's weird.

How do you make it? I see topics here and there of slow performance on mobiles.
How do you come up with your game with amazing performance on all mobiles?

It's an important question, and I'm sure many wants to know the answer.

Cheers,

If you want a game to be fast, then have it do less work.

@elafreat, one idea is to detect what the current FPS (frames per second) is and reduce the number of objects on the screen if the FPS gets too low. Another idea is try to do the least amount of actions on every tick, which one way of doing this would be to use the System."every X seconds" instead.

And then, perhaps not the most fun method, read through the entire C2 manual to learn many new things, and there are some great tutorials with even more tips and tricks.

The performance of C2 game made for mobile is not as bad as someone said. You're reading some tutorial about how to make game run faster, it's can't make "your game" run smooth because you'll need to creat a lot of game focus on mobile using C2, if it's run slow you will keeping find out why it's run slow, and make a change still it's run smooth again. It's all about experience.

The answer is up to you... But i've already made the good game maybe not "great", with nice graphic and smooth performance, tested on samsung galaxy tab and samsung galaxy S2. Wait a few hour, untill the game is publish on the googleplay. I'll post the game and you can play it... It's all made by C2 and cocoonjs.

Thanks @danialgoodwin for the quick tips.

@farsmile90 You have made some nice games, I won't be able to test them right now.. But they both seem nice.

Nicely done, Street Kungfu looks hilarious fun, I must try it when I find some free time. :D

My Ninja Legacy game is pretty massive, 450MB ram required with CocoonJS! Down to 250MB with Crosswalk! YAY! Runs great on mobiles.
