Mobile Text Input (Android Crosswalk)

Discussion and feedback on Construct 2

Post » Fri Jan 10, 2014 1:52 am

I was just wondering if it's possible to input text with Android Crosswalk. I tried to do a textbox, but no virtual keyboard is popping up. If so, how to do it?

117 views and no answers? Kinda of sad... Don't even know why I even use this forum, my threads never get replies.

I'll just skip over it..KazaaMafia2014-01-10 15:01:35

Most views are probably search bots. Report the issue to Intel so they can look in to it, it's most likely a Crosswalk issue.

@KazaaMafia - I am curious if you did get the Android keyboard working in Crosswalk?

Edit 3/8/2014 - the answer is yes. The android keyboard works in Crosswalk.

@Ashley Would it be possible to add text input functions (crosswalk supported) without needing the textbox? Similar to what CocoonJS has.

@TwinTails Why? What's wrong with using a text box?

@Ashley Well... it floats above the layout and sometimes I'd like text input to be available when an image is tapped or an event occurs (e.g. game starts, text opens automatically) Not having to use the text box would also free up some work-around manipulation events I'm having to use.

@Ashley Also just noticed that you can't see what text has been selected if the keyboard appears on top of the textbox.

I noticed a weird thing about that, in Intel XDK Preview, tapping on a textbox does let the layer scroll up to see the textbox.
But after exporting it with Crosswalk and installing the app on your device, it no longer scrolls the layer up when the textbox is focused.
This seems to be an issue with Crosswalk export.

-EDIT-

You can try to scroll the layer by event to show the textbox, but I'm not sure if it conflicts with any sceensize support options.
