    Postmortem

I'm about 20% disappointed with this project due to the features I couldn't implement that I didn't want to. At first, I was using Crosswalk, but it didn't support iAP and the performance was lower than Ludei's CocoonJS. Not to mention the export size.. So until Crosswalk is improved, I will switch them. Exporting to CocoonJS was a pain in the ass. Game Previewing over WiFi and making zip builds to test in Ludei's CocoonJS phone app didn't show any problems. It was after submitting the zip build and Ludei spitting out debug and release .apk... It's not stable at all. It would go through each of these..

    1.) Game instantly closing out..

2.) After Ludei Splash logo, closes out..

3.) During some gameplay, app closes out..

Tried this on two mid-range phones with Android 4.0+. Ludei's response to C2 is like watching paint dry. It's near non-existent. I tweeted Ludei multiple times in get ignored. They rather retweet others praising their system. I don't even think iAP purchases still even work for me atm. I'm using the new multiplatform iAP, but I'm still not fully sure if that works yet. I will be updating this app every 2 weeks though. I did enjoy developing a "Tamagotchi" like concept though. I'm currently trying to build a Windows 8 version, but I'm coming across build problems on that I may ask about later..

  • Can anyone test this on their Android device and see if it's crashing their device please or should I face yet another mute thread..

  • Teated on LG Optimus G Pro

No crashes has been detected, but ludei logo flashes a lot of times.

This game reminds me of the Pou :)

Ludei's logo flashing seem to be such a common issue, yet Ludei isn't even bothering to fix it.

  • shaircast: Thanks.. That's where I got my inspiration to make this game from.

: That's what happens when they ignore C2 developers. Like I said, I tweeted/emailed them multiple times only to see replies to other developers and retweeting them about how they praising their "broken" features. Right now, I'm just gonna convert the game back to Crosswalk like I originally had it and pray it doesn't go over the "50MB limit", because CocoonJS was already spitting a broken 30-36mb apk at me.

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

  • Yeah its a sad situation for art-heavy mobile games using Construct 2 now, Crosswalk has so many issues with supporting features as well as being slower AND piling on 20MB into your APK.. but its got proper memory management!

CocoonJS runs fast, has nice features, but has a epileptic inducing blinking logo which Ludei refuses to fix, as well as bloated LOAD_EVERYTHING into memory.. but it only adds around 5mb overhead to the APK.

Construct 2 games for web is a flawless process, its just these Android/iOS port options are still flawed.

I'm also working on a Stencyl 3.0 port of this game for Android and everything is running pretty smooth atm. Stencyl exports a native .apk and it runs very decent. 12mb with 90% of the art in and one music track. I think I'm just gonna use Stencyl for mobile games as that seems like the best solution for me. These third-party mobile solutions are broken right now for me and I definitely don't want to deal with support from someone that's non-existent.

  • How would you rate Stencyl versus Construct 2, as in, its ease of use and powerful features.. because it looks really interesting to me, since my next games are all heading towards lots of HD art, and Ludei doesn't seem interested in fixing its memory management issues.
