Hello people! I am here today to show you my project (Which I need help with). At the moment, it's being made on RPG maker VX Ace. However, not being far in development, I decided to port it to Construct. Having next to no knowledge in coding, and after numerous tries of understanding the engine, I decided to post here and ask for help from other coders.

You can find the game page Here

The CDC (Counter Demon Corporation) is thought to be a saviour to some. They hunt demons and various monsters that may threaten the life of common man. However, the true aim of the Enterprise is to collect Demonic Power fragments, more commonly known as Nephelites - small crystals thought to give one tremendous power. Under the alias of ridding the world of demons, CDC plans on using the Nephelites to create perfect Soldiers.

Not all the demons are evil. Some have, in fact, began to live amongst humans, having become well-trusted members of the community. CDC however, does not care. Often drawing up a fake document expressing how the demon is an outlaw. Most demons now live in seclusion, away from society. Only few know where they live and any accomplices of the demons are slaughtered as enemies of the state.

Celeste, a young witch and a freelancing Nephelite harvester works for CDC. She does not know what the real purpose of Nephelites are, and quite frankly, she doesn't care. She is not too fond of Demons and should she stop fighting, her soul shall be revoked.

Now that you know my project, I will post what I would want to have in Construct, if someone nice decides to help me.

Here is a mockup image (HUDs and designs not final) of the wanted battle system.

The top-left HUD displays Celeste's Health Points and Demonic Energy. Just next to that are small colorful orbs, which grant her elements. Demonic Energy is, well, Demonic Energy that, once gathered enough of, grants Celeste greater power and speed and applies the chosen element to each of her attacks untill the gauge drains out.

The bottom-left icon shows the weapon currently in use.

The bottom-right displays the targeted enemy's Health Points.

In the top-right corner, there is a combo count.

The desired effect ressembles Devil May Cry, Bayonetta, or even The Dishwasher or Blood Rayne: Betrayal.

To show my dedication to the project even further, here is a movement test with my sprites (Castlevania style, likely to change).

  • After seeing some screenshots from your game and looking at the games you're basing it around, I'm sure you'll be able to make the game that you want. The HUD in the screenshots on the site looks better than the mockup in my opinion

You'll need to play around with Construct a bit to get some experience and to know what it's capable of. You might also want to start your game fresh instead of modifying Beard's Super Platformer example. It'll help to know exactly what's going on.

Good luck and I hope to see a demo soon

  • Thanks. However I have even tried making my own engine, to no avail (Playing around wouldn't be enough for that). I'm asking for help from a decent programmer, while I do the rest. I should note the game's non-commercial ;)

The hud was actually ripped from Devil May Cry 4; I like it, but I want to implement that "Element Spheres", which isn't easy to do in RPG maker.

  • Bump? Anyone to help?
