New badge feature

We've added in a new badge system so it's ready for our competition. You can see the small selection of badges we have here:

Badges show on your profile page (if you have at least one) and lots of them come with reputation bonuses.

I'll be adding lots of new badges, if any of you have any ideas post them here!

All badges should be designed to promote good content and feature discovery on the site (eg, no negative badges!)

Examples of other ones we will be introducing:

A bronze badge for leaving your first comment

A bronze badge for your first comment upvote

A bronze badge for your first forum post

A gold badge when you hit 3,000 posts

etc

Anyway, if you have any ideas let me know!

• Tutor: after writing 10 tutorials
• Top Quality Tutorial: a tutorial reaches 100 votes

Competition specific badges and trophies. i/e- a badge or trophy with a rocket ship in the center for the space game competition, a badge or trophy with a sword and shield for an RPG competition, etc...

Mentor badge - for finding a solution to another developer's C2 problem

Coder badge - for creating a plug-in officially implemented in C2

I've put your badge count at the top of the screen when you are logged in now showing you how many badges you have total (gold, silver and bronze).

The "Postalot"-badges will lead to SPAM, short answeres and doubleposts "by mistake" .. I really do not appreciate them =/

Wow, I've herd the phrase of calling a spade black, but I never thought I'd see an example so clearly laid out.

It's "pot calling the kettle black" and "calling a spade a spade", which mean 2 different things :)

Actually, I have noticed old threads suddenly having banal comments being made on them, so you may be be on to something :/

The new "Postalot" badges are a bad idea; people will be inclined to make numerous, mindless posts just to get them. Go check out the 'your creations' forum..

Yeah, a certain delgado seems to like collecting those badges.

Yeah, the postalot badges are kinda bad for the forums... But then again I could be posting this so I can achieve mine... <img src="smileys/smiley16.gif" border="0" align="middle" />

Seriously tho, we have the open topic section so if people are really desperate to get the badges, let them spam there! :P

I'd love to see some badge for older users, or for people that reported bugs on the bugtracker in Classic :P
