    With support for Google Play social features <img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_e_biggrin.gif" alt=":D" title="Very Happy">

Great news for C2 users and potentially Scirra too, they've made it open source finally.

Even better news for a lot of folks, they've included a demo CAPX to show you how to implement features.

  • Good news. Just come to know through Twitter. Didn't know it's open source. I'm gonna try it right away.

  • Can anyone explain in detail what this means for us? I'm curious if this just impacts things like ads and IAP. Or will this also help with some of the larger issues like audio problems, 9patch/tiled bg support, perf, etc.

  • firebelly

They claim bug fixes and improved performance, so its up to you to test your game and see if its fixed.

Otherwise, the only major thing is the inclusion of Google Play features.

  • I got this error when I try to run the example capx

    Javascript error!

SyntaxError: in strict mode code, functions may be declared only at top level or immediately within another function

    http://192.168.1.198:50000/CJSAds_plugin.js, line 193 (col undefined)

    Replaced the files in C:\Program Files\Construct 2\exporters\html5\plugins\cocoonjsads and overwrite this file cocoonjs_prelude.js in C:\Program Files\Construct 2\exporters\html5

    Did I miss something ?

Well I assumed the point of putting this on github was basically "your problem now". So it would be up to us to fix things going forward, but I'm curious how tied into the platform the plugin is. Will working on it impact things like support for our objects and audio, or is that really something that can only be fixed internally in the cocoonjs code.

  • I too get an error when I try to run the capx.

But not only that, I just compiled my project ( like I did many times before ) and now chrome is telling me that the file is harmful and deletes it when I try to download it from the ludei email link.

EDIT: Now my project is not working either when I test it in construct 2, lots of error messages. Everything worked fine before.

What a shame, I was actually hyped for a sec

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

Try Now Construct 3 users don't see these ads

    same problem <img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_eek.gif" alt="" title="Shocked">

the new plugin is not working... maybe is working with the Release r163?

  • I followed the manual, and exported the sample capx with r167.2 version. CocoonJS Launcher gives me an error message like this:

JavaScript Exception ( File: 'c2runtime.js' Tag: 'script'): ReferenceError: createCocoonJSRuntime is not defined

    at c2runtime.js:5586:1

    at c2runtime.js:5588:3

  • I get an error even opening C2 without the example. Tells me error on line 6 of common.js ad the plugin is not available =( Doh

  • Yup - same for me. The 'new and improved' cocoonjs plugin is rubbish. Ludei = massive fail; it can't have been robustly tested at all...

That is why they open sourced it, they won't be supporting it anymore, and are asking for help from us to test, contribute and update.

Honestly this github situation is meant to put it on Scirra's plate. Which is good and bad. Good because we can control it now, bad because it is extra work. Does that make sense?

Ludei will add to github when needed and we will be responsible for fixing bugs.

  • firebelly - I agree that it's good and bad now that it's been given to give it to the community.

My fail comment was just because Ludei came out with a big positive blog and fanfare: "Today we’re releasing the new CocoonJS Plugin for Construct 2. WOOHOOO!!" After reading that I imagined that it might in fact work and not cause C2 to crash.... If the headline had read "we didn't really test it and, to be honest, we had better commercially driven things to be getting on with - so, there you go, good riddance to it / what a relief" then my expectations would have been better aligned with reality.

I do think that this will be good in the long run, though - but only if there's someone in the community who has the time, skill and inclination to get in their and tweak the plugin for the greater good. I would love to give it a go but I am useless at coding...

    Same error. C2 r167.2

    has anyone got if working?

  • ....now what? who's responsible to fix this? my games are still rely on cjs export, and waiting for google play service for long time, now broke the whole thing? :/
