• Hey all, i am a game developer that have used scirra for some time, but decided to switch to Unity, and from there it have just been a lot more fun to make games, i am right now working on a game that is called: The ShadowWalker. I have started a Indiegogo campaign to raise some money for the project, since its not cheap to make games.

You can read much more about me and the campaign here: http://igg.me/at/shadowwalker/x/4562273

  • So basically you are saying "give me money, and I'll make something... maybe".

    Yeah good luck with that.

  • Hmm not really. I will make games anyway, would just be nice to have a bit more budget to play with ;)

  • You should have some games lined up before doing this. I have no idea what the funding is for except empty promises. There aren't even links or anything to your past work. Also, capitalize your i's >.>

  • Djip123

Have to enforce Mad's point. I haven't started a kickstarter, mentioned it (my current project) to public+forums or anything simply because it isn't ready.

To request money you need something, and a good something.

I do understand your methodology though of asking for money too (eg a nice new computer or something like that.)

Want a new pc? Sell your xbox+bike... that's what I had to do.

And guess what? You don't even need a fancy-ass rig for construct! It's that fantastic. (gotta admit this rig is pretty cool though )

If you have read the updates then you would know i will throw something in today ;)

Maybe I'm just uneducated, but isn't that a bit much to expect?

..most of them would be nice to make multiplayer, BUT for that i need the money, and i would also need the money for graphic.

Why cant you promise multiplayer in the first place? If you're referring to online multiplayer, that's currently not possible with C2, and it won't suddenly be possible even if you raised $1000 or $5000 lol.

he start will be with royality free art, as soon as i get just a little money i will use it on my own graphic, i already have a designer in my backhand, that have been using

I don't understand this part very well. I'm gathering you have a graphics designer on your team and want to pay him, which is why you need money? Maybe inform your graphics designer that if the game does well in the future, he can get paid or something. At such an early stage, you can't expect any sort of profit. :P

Upon seeing your screenshots, I dunno man. I agree with newt, MadFactory, and Sulli. You really need more to show to people if you expect to ask for money from them. Even when you have something great, people are still cautious about projects, just look at that boardgame thing: escapistmagazine.com/news/view/126293-Board-Game-Kickstarter-Canceled-Amidst-Claims-of-Malfeasance

Takes notes from Sulli, judging from his post, he's got a good outlook and drive that you should consider thinking about!

The part that ruins it all though, is the grammar and spelling. I mean, fair enough if you type one or two mistakes, but reading what you wrote was somewhat amusingly weird to read. :(

Whilst this is a bit of a stretch, I wish you good luck!

Nice find (escapist magazine;) however in my opinion the type of caution people will have for 'indie game companies' is different. One would be cautious simply because: are they just asking for money, just because or is there an actual reason?

I mean, when I back things (to date.. about 6 projects?) they're virtually finished or have everything there (so they just need manufacturing and shipment costs)

I mean I've certainly had the urge to BS about a project and plump it up just to get a computer... but then reality struck and before I launched the campaign I realised to actually make the game was waaaaaaaaaaaaaay to hard to do for someone of my skill (and the game is what a backer cares about, not your finance or company.)

Here is a good example of when to start a campaign.

    I've backed this guy.

OH and RE: more of a budget to play with...

I'm making a game atm-- royalty free stuff + stuff which I've bought.

I've poured every little pound of moneys which I get into buying new things you either want it or not! I'm hoping that later production stage I'll be able to find somebody to share the profit with me and do the art, but maybe I wont... so then I'll just have to wait some more and pay someone else after release.

Do i say that i wanted to make Multiplayer with C2 ? Nope i didn't and i don't wanna make every game with C2, actually i have already started programming the first game with XNA ;)

  • Isn't XNA dead?

  • Isn't XNA dead?

Why should it be that ? ;)

  • So basically you are saying "give me money, and I'll make something... maybe".

    Yeah good luck with that.

Asking someone to give money before develop a game isn't a talent.

Should I start my kickstart to ask money about videogame? I would love to see $ 0.00 after of deadline.

  • Let's be easy on the guy. He won't have a succesful campaign due to not making much of a game, but even full games have failed at kickstarter. Good ones as well.

You also didn't mention XNA, I made the assumption you'd use c2 because you're on c2 forums lol. But yeah I just hope you stick to your crowdfunding stuff and not "give up" when a bunch of people have pledged. Goodluck!
