Nintendo-DeNA and NX console potentially great for construct

Discussion and feedback on Construct 2

Post » Tue Mar 17, 2015 2:36 pm

As some of you might have reed already, Nintendo partnered with biggest mobile dev company in Japan, to bring Nin Ip's to mobiles. Nintendo also talked briefly about their next NX console, which suppose to be part home console, part handheld playing mobile games. And with recent release of Nintendos html5 DK game, this made me suspect that it will have support for html5 ( as, as we know, N was talking about it a lot in the past), so possibly it could be something we all might benefit from.

This is of great interest to me, not only as a Nintendo fan but as a developer. If they can unify the architecture for both their handheld and console systems, it would mean less effort for developers to create cross-platform content. Mind you, moving to x86 instead of PowerPC would help with 3rd party ports as well. :P
As it looks right now, this may be a 3rd option and not something that will replace either console yet, but if they get their act together it might pave the way when they do move on to the next generation.

Get ready to play Mario with tilt controls and a single context-sensitive tap function. Also that thing looks like a vacuum cleaner.

Hehe! The render isn't an official concept of the new console, so don't worry about replacing your Roomba just yet. :P

If that was a GBA Port I saw on that vacuum cleaner then I don't care what it looks like. If it has full-backwards compatibility it could be a space-toilet for all I care.

Apparently the games are going to be specifically developed for mobiles, and they wont be ports. Aslo, they are going to be developed in house by nintendo, and dena will take care of servicing them.

Just as an observation. The image in the post of the NX is likely a photo shop speculation drawing. More than likely it's reference to the GameCube(Dolphin) prototype. Check out the tech specs, they are in line with the GameCube. The image was used probably just for the purpose showing Nintendo working on their next gen rather than actual development.

@jayderyu yeah it is a mock up from the site Nintendo has not announced anything about there next system execpt the even though they are starting to make some Smartphone games the are still dedicated to the people that buy there systems and are working a new device
listed below is evenything they said

While this is not something directly relating to the collaboration that we have announced today, here is one thing I would like to mention to avoid any misunderstandings.

Nintendo has decided to deploy its video game business on smart devices but it is not because we have lost passion or vision for the business of dedicated video game systems. On the contrary, now that we have decided how we will make use of smart devices, we have come to hold an even stronger passion and vision for the dedicated video game system business than ever before. Nintendo has made this decision because we have concluded that the approach of making use of smart devices is a rational way for us to encourage even more people around the world to recognize the great value of the wonderful game software available on our dedicated game systems.

As proof that Nintendo maintains strong enthusiasm for the dedicated game system business, let me confirm that Nintendo is currently developing a dedicated game platform with a brand-new concept under the development codename "NX." It is too early to elaborate on the details of this project, but we hope to share more information with you next year.
